Lyras POV
My leg was wrapped around his back as his skin slapped against mine. I had never felt like this before; it was as if my whole body was in heaven.
His skin continued to slap against mine, his hand wrapped around the back of my neck, gripping it tightly. I watched his face twist with pleasure, his teeth clenched tightly, his dark eyebrows lowered as his lips parted. “Argh…,” he gasped.
My lips parted; a gentle breath escaped me as his lips touched my neck. His kisses strolled down to my chest, gentle, soft. My body trembled under him.
“f**k…” he cursed. “Argh…” His body trembled with pleasure and mine followed. His hand wrapped around me, flipping me over. I laid against him while he laid on his back.
We both panted in silence. His hand ran against my back. He swallowed before he spoke. “Was it like you expected it? Your first time?”
I lifted my head to see his face. “It was amazing,” I admitted.
His hand strolled down to my hips. His expression grew genuine as he spoke again. “I’m sorry I didn’t tell you anything before I left your home the last time.”
I sat up, straddling him. My cheeks turned red as his eyes brushed across my naked body. “Why did you leave?” I asked, ignoring the heat I felt within me.
His expression shifted. It was something I couldn’t quite place, something broken… twisted.
“I hoped to see you when I woke up that morning and… I thought you regretted what happened,” I said.
He pushed himself up and sat. His eyes searched mine. His fingers reached for my face and gently brushed off the hair. “I didn’t regret it.”
“Then why did you leave?” I asked again.
“Lyra, there are things about me that I can’t tell you yet, secrets that I can’t let anybody know about yet,” he said.
“Secrets? What secrets?”
He placed his head on my shoulder and hugged me tightly. “Forget about it.”
I wrapped my arms around his neck. What secrets could he have that weighed so heavily on him?
“It’s okay. You can tell me whenever you want,” I said calmly.
I looked up to meet his eyes. “I didn’t stop thinking about you when I left,” he said.
I smiled. “Me either.”
“I think I like you… Lyra,” he admitted. My eyebrows lifted with shock. “Is that okay?” he asked. “I know you only married me for politics, because your father asked you to, but we don’t have to be strangers in our marriage, because I want you.” His hand slipped into mine, warm and soothing. “I have not met anybody as interesting and captivating as you.”
I smiled, tears clouding my eyes. How had I imagined that marrying him would be hell? A man I didn’t know. Silas was all I dreamed for: peace.
His eyes moved to my body again. His finger moved to it, his thumb gently caressing it. “The woman who you lived with…”
“Nerissa?”
“What is your relationship with her?” His eyes beamed with curiosity.
“She’s my father’s maid, but Nerissa raised me, so she has been around for years,” I explained. “She’s the closest thing I have to a mother.”
An eyebrow raised. “A mother? She has caused marks on your body—whips, canes…” He touched the side of my body and caressed it. “What is this?”
“Nerissa didn’t like the soup I made for her when she fell sick, so…”
“So?”
“She tossed it at me and it burned me.” I watched his jaw clench.
“She burned you over food?”
I nodded.
“I want to hurt her,” he said in rage. “Cut her head off or something.”
I quickly shook my head. “No, I can’t let anybody die because of me. It’s not like I’m still with her. I’m here, with you.” I cupped his face with both of my hands.
He sighed. “Yeah, of course.”
He pulled away from me and walked to my desk. He grabbed a glass, but it was empty. He turned around and raked his fingers through his hair. I lifted the duvet, my toes curling as my eyes watched his p***s dangle between his legs. I gulped, cheeks turning red. My hair, wet with sweat, fell to my face as I bowed my head.
It had just been inside me. How come it flustered me so much to see?
“I need water,” he cleared his throat. “Who do you usually call to get that around here?”
“Uh… I’m new here, Silas. I did have dinner in the dining area.”
“Oh.” He moved to the bed and grabbed a cloth. He wrapped it around his waist. Holding it with one hand, he walked to an intercom in the room and dialed a number. Placing it against his ear, he spoke. “Bring a glass of water to the Luna’s bedroom…” He looked at me. “Water?”
I shook my head.
He placed the phone down and walked into bed with me. “When the honeymoon is over, I want you to live on my side of the mansion. I had you stationed here because I didn’t want you with me, but…” His hand touched my face, his voice soft as he spoke. “I didn’t know it was you.”
“Really? In the same room? Me and you?”
His hair moved as he nodded. “Yes.”
As I parted my lips to speak, a knock on the door cut me short. The knock came again. “Come in!” he shouted.
He stepped out of bed as the door opened, the towel still wrapped around his hips. A maid walked in, her head bowed with respect. He grabbed the glass and gulped it down. He placed the glass back on the tray. “Leave,” he instructed her.
She turned around. Her eyes strolled to me before she looked away.
He walked to me and climbed into bed. He sucked a deep breath and shook his head.
“Are you alright?” I asked.
“Does your body hurt?” He responded with a question.
“Yes.”
“I still want to have s*x with you, but I want you to rest. It’s making me go crazy,” he said.
My eyes formed a heart. “Really?” I asked, trying to hide the fact that I also wanted it. It seemed too embarrassing to ask him. I turned to my side of the bed and inhaled sharply.
I laid in silence until he moved to me and wrapped his arm around me. “I promise, I’ll always protect you,” he said, a kiss on my back.
The sun that peered in through the window woke me up from sleep. My eyes fluttered open. My body ached more now than it did last night.
I stretched and turned around. My heart spiked as I didn’t find Silas behind me, just a rumpled bedsheet. I sat up and wiped my eyes.
“Good morning, Lyra,” I heard Selene’s voice.
I shouted in shock and spun to face her. She stood at the door, her hands clutched before her.
“When did you get in here?” I asked.
“It has been an hour, ma’am. The Alpha King stepped out to have a meeting. He will return soon. It’s my duty to help you shower now.”
I stepped out of bed and noticed her giggle lightly. “What is it?”
She finally smiled. “You are all the maids are talking about.”
My brows furrowed. “Me? What are they saying?”
