Magic Exists?

I could only stare at my father at his words. I couldn't believe it. In my past life, I belonged to a middle-class household, and the only goal was to live decently and keeping the family well-fed. I would have never thought to have the opportunity to be an heiress. My mother followed up with a comforting smile. "Not only that, he is also one of the King's most trusted advisors," she said proudly, having finally stopped crying. My father rubbed the back of his head in an embarrassed manner. So not only was I rich, my family had an incredible position in the country? What kind of punishment was this? I thought of their explanations and determined to gain knowledge of this place, I asked, "What about the Academy? What kind of school is that?" Obviously, coming from a rich household, this academy must contain the sons and daughters of such background. But I wanted to know what made it so special. "Well, you, Camille, are a 2nd-year student of the prestigious Bluebell Academy. The school is for those proficient in magic, as well as academic scholars. Since most people who have magic appear to have relations to nobles, inevitably the school contains mostly the sons of daughters of nobility." My father looked at me with a gentle look, trying to assure me, but I couldn't help but be shocked. Magic? Is this some kind of fantasy novel? I expected a different world, but similar to my Earth, with the setting of 19th century Europe. Yet never would I have thought of something so far out. When I thought of magic I could only picture witches and brooms and spells of gibberish. Curiosity piqued, I asked, "Magic?" My father nodded, satisfied with my interest. "Yes. These people are born affiliated with a particular element. In the academy, they learn to take in spiritual energy around them, creating a force known as magic," he explained. I nodded in comprehension. There were many different versions of magic in fantasy, but I guess this is the most simple type. It was most likely similar to Avatar. Thinking about my childhood memories, I smiled. Finally seeing a positive reaction from his daughter, Duke Calvert finally relaxed a bit. "Yes. although your mother is not affiliated with any type of element, mine is fire. It is known as a more offensive magic. You have a connection with water, known as a more defensive and healing skill." Huh? Why does it sound like water is looked down on? Stop looking at me with that hint of pity! No matter what world I get reincarnated into, I will not stand to be weak and defenseless! Making up my mind, I told my father, "I'm sorry, I feel a little tired. Thank you for the information. Please excuse me." Looking a little disappointed with my formalness, my father nodded and stood up. My mother stepped closer to my bed and gave me a quick peck on my forehead. She smiled beautifully. "Just remember, no matter what, we'll always love you." And with that, they left, hand in hand. I sighed in relief. Although I did feel a little guilty for lying to these wonderful people, I knew that trouble would ensue if I spoke the truth. Not only would they not believe me, they would most likely think I'm crazy and send me to some sort of facility. Anyways, these people were quite kind. My mother even got angry at another person for my sake, and I feel like she doesn't even know half of the story. This owner of this body was most likely spoiled rotten. But I was thankful for this situation. Not only was a guaranteed a home, I had the backing of one of the most powerful men in the country. No one could hurt me even if they tried. But there will be people who will try to use me. My eyes darkened at the thought. "Felicity," I called out. Not expecting to hear her name, the brunette that had been standing outside my room the whole time, jumped. "Y-yes?" She looked very nervous, and I could only chuckle at her behavior. I gave her my best charming smile. "I promise I won't eat you, please stop being so afraid," I said. She reddened at my words and started to defend herself, but I interrupted. "I need you to do a few things for me." I wiped the expression of my face and looked into her eyes seriously. If I wanted to survive in this world, there was a lot of things I needed to learn. And not in an unlimited amount of time. If I could, I want a very unlimited amount of people to learn of my "amnesia". They will surely try to use it to their advantage. I need to go back to school as fast as possible. And so, I whispered a few tasks into Felicity's ears. She nodded frantically and ran outside. A new life huh? I'll try not to disappoint you this time. I looked up and smirked.
