Thomas
One minute I'm phasing. The next all hell is breaking loose. I hear John linking me yelling they found her. Then I'm running, praying it will not be too late to reach her. Just as she came crashing out the back door, I was able to keep her from hitting her head. Lifting her up, I placed her safely behind me and in between John and me.
Before these three take another step toward Marissa, I get in my fighting stance and growl out "What are you doing here?"
"I AM LOOKING FOR MY MISSING DAUGHTER?" my father yelled "She is going back with me!" He snarled, pointing at her.
Before I can get myself together, I see her push past me and stand tall and strong. She's mad. All the pain, hurt, and anger she had hidden comes out. "I AM NOT GOING ANYWHERE!" She yells. " I am not missing nor do you give a damn about me that way, father. You sold me to benefit you! All three of you can f*ck off my property and out of my home."
Before I could admire her strength. I saw her father come through red-faced and furious, ready to strike her. Not, on my watch, with my speed, I grabbed his arm, pinning it to his back, and shoved him to the ground. He dared to try to hit her in my presence. "You dare lay a hand on her and I'll kill you. " a growl came out. Then looking at the other two standing in the doorway, I said "not one of you has the balls to take me on and if any of you come close to her again you'll die a slow and painful death."
Both men take a step back after this. But before I can register that I'm breathing heavily, her hand comes to my arm, and just like that my rage comes down just a little as her eyes meet mine, and, without missing a beat, she knows who I am. I'm certain that she can see Lucian in my eyes since he is ready to kill all of them for her.
Then, just like before, she takes both me and John by surprise by going after the short fat one I know as Jerome. She yanks a necklace from him, then with everything she lets her fist fly, hitting him square in the face. As he bends back in pain, she tells him " I am not nor will I ever be yours."
As she walks away from both of them, the damn Game Warden reaches out for her and grabs her by the arm. At the last second, he understands his error and lets go. "Ma'am by state law you have to be with a guardian till you turn 18." He cleared his throat. "You have to go back with your father." Her father stands back up puffing out his chest like he's won to stand in front of us.
Then, just in time, we have three sheriff's units and her grandmother pulls up and rushes out. I noticed two were from the Silver Moon Pack and the other was just a normal human. Miss Mary, being in her old age, wasted no time. She was already halfway to Marissa and holding out her arms to her.
"Sheriff Garrett," I said, reaching out my hand as he got closer. "Just in time as always. "
"Thomas, what's going on here? We got word that three men were trespassing in the Aurora trailer park." He asked in his gravelly voice.
Before I could answer, the damn Game Warden came out of the trailer. “Sheriff, I’m so glad that you showed up. We have an issue. This young lady is a runaway with no other family and needs to be back in her father's care.” He said, walking up to me and Garrett.
It took all of me to hold back a smile because Garrett was not only the Sheriff but the Alpha of the Silver Moon Pack. He was aware of Marissa as well as her situation. But this Game Warden was up to no good if he was in line with these two. The Sheriff lifted his hat and looked at the Warden. “ Since when does a Game Warden have any power or say where a minor is to go in my country?”
"Sir, I meant no disrespect. I only found a father looking for his daughter and I happened to know where she was?" He added, looking pissed that he was even questioned.
"Sheriff Garrett, these three men forced their way into a private home, chased a minor, and attempted to kidnap her. How is that legal?" I added, looking at the other two. I know what they wanted and planned to do.
"If that's so, then we had better place these three in cuffs just in case." Sheriff Garrett stated.
At that, the weasel called Jerome piped up. "Sir, I believe you know my father is a big businessman in these parts and will be happy to have you set up for your next campaign. Also, this young lady is my intended. We are sent to get married on her birthday, which is next week, and just coming to help her move back home per her wishes."
"Per her wishes you say, ha son?" Garrett asked
"Yes, Sir, we have a marriage contract and everything if you need…."
Garrett told him "marriage contracts are only good for animals in this country". Looking at Marissa, he eyed her. Boy did that piss off Lucian; he wanted to phase and wrap around, to protect her. Make sure these idiots knew she was his.
Then, with all her grace and kindness, Marissa walked up to him and stretched her hand. "Sheriff Garrett, my name is Marissa. This man was my father and he abused me till I was 17. He then sold me to Jerome as a child bride and relinquished custody of me. To escape my forced marriage, I ran away and found my maternal grandmother. She has kept me safe and well, healing me from the damage that both these men have done to me. At this age, I can choose who to live with. Also, for a Warden who claims to know the law, you did enter my home and attempt to take me without consent and I would like to press charges on all 3."
Garrett watched her with surprise and aww. With a nod to the others, he just said "Done". All three were carted off. Once this had settled down, Garrett surprised us by going on one knee in front of Marissa.
This sent me and Lucian over the edge and a passive growl came out. He laughed and told me to settle down. Something only my father had ever done to me.
"We, Marissa, have waited for many years. Please accept this silver moon". It was a pendant that was attached to her mother's cross she had just gotten back. "As a gift, should you need anything, just call to us and we are here ready to serve."
Just like that, all the backwoods to the trailer park were filled with Werewolfs all bending and showing their respect. I had never seen the Silver Moon pack up close but they were all different shades of silver and gray. It was a beautiful sight.
Then a young one came limping up. This little one was so small and hurt. Attached to the paw was a hunter's trap. It was laced with poison and there was no hope for the pup if it was removed. It loses its paw or dies. Till Marissa picked her up and closed her eyes, ancient words came flowing from her. Her eyes went purple. Then, together, she and the pup rested. She took the trap off and the pup was healed. No limp, no, nothing just healed.
