Chapter Eleven:

The sun was high in the sky by the time Iredesa awoke. She looked over to see that Kallan was no longer in the tent. It hurt her feelings a little to see that he was gone, but at the same time she didn't mind. It gave her time to think about what had happened thw night before. Her body felt sore. But in a good kind of way that made her tingle. She stretched around, feeling the tightness in her body subside slightly. She reimagined every single moment of what happened, playing it over and over until it became a core memory for her. She regretted nothing. The way his body had moved against hers, the way he had worshipped her and gave her so much pleasure had her smiling. She reached down to touch her core, reveling in the throbbing ache that had yet to subside. She was no longer a virgin. She was sure that she would have felt some remorse for having s*x outside of marriage. Yet somehow she didn't. It had felt right. And she had wanted to one thing to be taken in the human world. She was going to experience everything else from her life in the Fae realm. She felt that she could have one milestone in the human world. And God's. It was a milestone. She had never experienced such pleasure. She reached for her clothes, deciding she had better join him. She couldn't stay in the tent forever. When she got dressed she made her way out of the tent, seeing that Kallan was sitting on a stump and making skillet bread, eggs, and what appeared to be a small trout. He also had an assortment of the left over fruits laid out on a plate along with cheese. He looked up, his eyes guarded. She smiled timidly, unsure of if the feelings she had about last night were reciprocated. "Hi." She breathed, tucking her hair behind her ear. "Good morning." She said again when he still didn't speak. "Is it truly a good morning Iredesa?" He asked, looking at her apprehensively. She frowned, unsure of what he meant. "Well I.. Did I do something wrong?" she asked. Her mind was racing. Clearly he didn't enjoy what had happened as much as she had. Of course not, she was human and he Fae after all. Why would she have thought for even a moment that she could have pleased him? She was a virgin and knew nothing about s*x. He was well versed, had said so himself. He looked at her and slowly turned the trout over, it sizzling slowly. "Little Raven you are projecting again. Such nonsense comes through your head. You've done nothing wrong. It was I that have wronged you. I am older and should have taken better care of making sure your first time was special and not in the middle of the woods." He felt that he was in the wrong? "Don't you dare try to take last night and make it out like it wasn't perfect in every way to me Kallan. Don't you dare make what happened small and insignificant." She said as she stomped her foot for emphasis. " I knew what I was asking for. It was what I wanted. It could not have been any more perfect for me. I am glad it was here in this spot on human land and not in some foreign land in a bed I do not know. This is what I needed. To give myself over in an environment that I was comfortable with. You gave me two of the most precious gifts I could have asked for. Our children's legacy and my free will on something that most women have no say on. I got to choose when and where. And that I will NOT let you diminish." She walked towards him and went to her knees as she finished her speech, never breaking eye contact. " Thank you Kallan.. Thank you.." she said and kissed him lightly on the lips. He kissed her back hesitantly at first, but deepened the kiss after a moment. "You continue to surprise me little raven." He murmured against her lips. She pressed her forehead against his briefly before pulling away. Looking into his silver eyes she said lightly. " I was not happy about this. About leaving my home. Having no say in marrying you and no say in being forced to leave everything I knew behind. But you gave me a say in this. It is a gift that I will always treasure. The gift of me having a choice in when and where to give my body to you. That I will always be grateful for and will try for the rest of my life to repay you by being the best wife I can possibly be." He smiled at her. Yet she could see that his smile didn't quite reach his eyes. She wanted to press him and see what could possibly have him sad, yet she didn't want to upset the peace they had found so she left it alone and began to gather up their things for their final journey to the border. The last few miles to the border seemed to fly by quickly. Suddenly Kallan stopped and said quietly, "We are here." She looked around confused. She didn't see a wall of any sorts. No guards or guard posts. Only trees. The same trees she had seen for the last week of their journey. "I don't understand Kallan.. I don't see anything." " There isn't a physical wall. The Fae try hard to keep balance and harmony with nature. Building a wall would destroy the natural beauty of the land, as well as leave a possibility of being climbed or tore down by Fae and human hands. It's an invisible force field. Humans who come across it will find themselves suddenly with the urge to go home. They don't stop until they get back home, unsure of where they just went. Not even the most powerful of Fae can break through the barrier..Only those who know where the gaps in the wards are can get through." With that he stuck his hand out and began to slowly slide across as if he was searching for something. She felt the arch of power that surged and seen a faint glow come from his hand as he continued to move across the air. The hairs ln her arms lifted as she felt the power humming in the air. Suddenly his arm disappeared. She gasped, unable to see where it had gone to. He looked back at her and held his other hand out to her. " Are you ready little raven?" He asked, looking at her with what she could only describe as cautious hope. She nodded, taking his hand, and stepped forward. She felt the thrum of power as they began to walk forward. Every hair on her body was raised and she felt licks of electricity arch across her body. Just as they took the last step out of the human world she looked back. Sorrow filled her as she got her last glimpse of her world. "Goodbye." She whispered as it disappeared from her view and she stepped through to the other side. She hadn't even realized that she had closed her eyes until Kallan had laughed and told her she could open them. She did so slowly, gasping out loud at the sight before her. The wild around her was an explosion of colors and sights she had never seen before. Trees of the brightest greens and brown that seemed to climb up into the heavens surrounded them. Upon the trunks of the trees were vines of flowers she had never seen before in a variety of colors and sizes that took her breath away. Dazzling oranges the size of saucers and luminescent purples as tiny as a pea. Pink in every shade possible. Yellows and whites and blues that left her speechless. She saw butterflies as big as birds fluttering through the trees in lazy circles around her. Cocoons and caterpillars of equal size hanging from the branches and vines. "Welcome to Puerr Terra little raven." He said, smiling at her. " Its beautiful." she replied as she watched a pair of silver deer with golden antlers graze lazily thirty feet away from them." This is only what you see at the beginning of our territory. The further you go the more you should see. Soon you'll even see some of the Fae that reside in the woods. We will also be meeting up with Rennyn, Jara, and Esper. Knowing Esper she is already probably hiding out somewhere hoping to catch me off guard. Anything to keep my training top notch. I imagine she left Jara and Rennyn early this morning in anticipation of us arriving through the border and will meet up with us within the hour." They made their way slowly through the back of Tiernim, going deeper into the woods. Iredesa kept stopping every few minutes with every new thing she saw. The most exciting was a fox that had giggled when it ran across their path. Kallan had called it a Reynard, the shape shifter Fae.. The further they went the more strange and wild things became, just as he had said it would. Trees that when you brushed your finger across them burst into a million birds, she even saw the glimpse of pixies as they fluttered through the trees, catching bugs and small birds. She looked on horrified when a pixie bit the head off of one and grinned at her with such sweet and innocent glee. The macabre scene of the dead bird and the innocent smile was enough to make Iredesa want to keep moving. Pixies were cute and terrifying she had decided. They were small, no bigger than the birds they had snatched from the air. They were different colors, chestnut brown, and white, she had even seen a green one. They all had wings of translucent colors that matched their respective skin tones, and wore clothes that looked like they were made of leaves and spider webs. But it was their eyes and teeth that let her know that they were not as cute and cuddly as they appeared. Aside from the bird that had just been orally decapitated of course. Their eyes were all black and slanted to a sharp and meaning oval shape. And their teeth looked like gleaming, white pointed knives. It didn't help that some of them looked to be stained with blood. They kept moving, Kallan never letting her away from his side. He looked around cautiously. She had noticed that his whole demeanor had changed the moment they had begun walking through the woods of Tiernim. He was no longer relaxed and aloof. Now his back was straight and his footsteps light and calculated. His eyes were everywhere, darting around in the shadows as if he was waiting for something to jump out. Ever so often he would mumble something under his breath, stop for a second, and then continue with a satisfied nod. Iredesa said nothing, too nervous to break the silence. She kept feeling as if they were being watched. After a while he stopped and spoke out loud. " Esper. I know you are out there. Come on out so that you don't spook Iredesa any more than you already have." A small giggle filled the air and suddenly Iredesa was face to face sith a small glowing body no bigger than her pinky. Iredesa stepped back, alarmed as Esper laughed. It was a laugh that seemed to radiate sunshine and warmth. "Don't be scared silly human. I'm not going to bite you. That's more pixie than Devas Fairy." "Honestly Esper. Personal space. You are two inches tall. How can you possibly evade people's space as much as you do?." Kallan said as he lifted a hand out. Esper perched down onto his hand and bowed as she dimmed the light around her. Now that Iredesa could see her, Esper was a breathtaking creature. Her skin was the color of honey and she had hair the color of spun gold. Her eyes were a gorgeous shade of yellow, and she was curvy yet thin at the same time. "Kall. I am glad to have you back in Puerr Terra. Rennyn was becoming quite the nuisance while you were gone. I know I know. It's only been a couple of weeks. But still. Do you have any idea how loud that guy snores? Honestly! He about blew me away one night!" "I'm sure that Rennyn will probably say you were just as annoying Esper. Speaking of. Where are Rennyn and Jara?" "They are about half a days walk back..I flew ahead because... Well because I wanted to make sure that you being in the mortal world for two weeks didn't make you forget to be vigilant. Looks as if you remembered to always stay on guard so I guess it was pointless in me flying ahead..Well. Almost pointless. I got to have the first glimpse of ms. purple eyes over here. Hello Iredesa. Pretty name. All.. sparkly. " Iredesa said hello back, unsure of how to feel about Esper. She was very talkative that was for sure. She didn't seem like a bad person so Iredesa decided to let it go and get to know her. Kallan let Esper climb up his shoulder and sit down as they began to walk again. All the while, she talked of things that had been going on since Kallan had left. " OH! I forgot to mention. Her royal Bitchness came looking for you. Boy was she pissed when she seen you were gone." "Her royal.. Bitchness?" Iredesa asked, looking at Kallan as Esper laughed gleefully. " She means Ember. Yes Esper. She projected a storm a few days ago that spread out into the human lands. It ended up setting us a bit back it was so heavy." Iredesas cheeks warmed as she remembered what else had set them back that night in the tent. Ember didn't realize it. But her temper tantrum had done exactly the opposite of what she had wanted. Instead making Iredesa flee. It had brought her and Kallan to a much more intimate level. When she glanced at Kallan she could see that he too was remembering that night. She truly hoped that Esper couldn't read minds. Esper looked at Kallan with annoyance. " A rain storm really? I swear. That girl is such a b***h. I don't know what you ever saw in her in the first place. At least you are upgrading in the looks department eh? I mean. She is no Sili. But she is pretty cute." "Sili?" Iredesa asked, looking at Kallan. " Espers' partner. Sili is one of the iron pixies." " Sili is the most beautiful creature to ever grace this planet. I was blessed whenever she came into my life." Esper said as she clutched her heart and closed her eyes in contentment. Iredesa smiled, only slightly jealous of the love that Esper clearly had for Sili. It was clear that Esper was smitten as all get out. What she thought was odd was that they were both women. " I mean no offense when I ask this. But is it common for women to fall in love in the Car world?" she asked, hoping that Esper wouldn't get upset. " Oh right. I forget. Humans are so.. Prudish when it comes to s*x and whatnot." Esper said as she looked at Iredesa with pity. " Love is love no matter what gender you are girl. The Fae do not believe that it should be confound to just one gender. Most Fae are very open in their sexuality. I myself prefer the touch of women. Same as our prince here and Rennyn. But their are many of our kind that will take a partner regardless of if they are male or female. Jara is one of those. Cheeky little horn dog he is. If the attraction is there then it is there... Simple as that. s*x should not have all those silly rules that humans put on them." Iredesa listened in awe. She had heard of people in the human world that had same s*x partners. But they were quickly either thrown out or "fixed" from their "afflictions". As the priests would call it. Beating the person and submerging them in blessed water until their unholy thoughts no longer plagued them. The Fae however, seemed to embrace and welcome those desires with open arms. She wondered briefly if the Fae really were the barbaric race that humans claimed they were. At least in Puerr Terra people didn't die simply because of who they loved..
