Late Night Getaway

Point of View: Tyler Baile “Hello Tyler,” Said a gruff voice in the shadows.  “Hello, who are you?” I asked as I slowly turned hoping to see a face.  “I’m your homo lupus. I bring you a message in this dream realm state. Tomorrow night beware the homo nus nocturnes.” The rough voice said as I continued to look for him.  “The what?” I asked.  “The vampire!” He roared.  “What are you talking about? Anastasia is my friend, she will protect me tomorrow during the ritual.” I said as I spotted his gleaming eyes in the darkest shadows.  “NO! She will be your undoing,” He growled.  “You know nothing about her!” I growled back baring my teeth trying to look menacing. He roared just as the clouds parted and what little moonlight was left shown down on them. “What the?” I asked as a heard of dogs were crouched down growling at me. Then without a second glance they descended upon me tearing me limb from limb. I dared not cry out in pain but I couldn’t hold it in any more.  I said up in my bed with a yelp as I felt the canine’s teeth pierce my neck. My hands instinctively grabbed a hold of my neck. I sighed once I felt my unmarred flesh. I whimpered to myself as my mind tried to make sense of all these vision that suddenly want to pop up every chance they could.   “You okay?” Clayton asked me from his bed. I turned and saw him watching me carefully.  “Yeah, did I wake you up again?” I asked him feeling guilty.  “No I was having a hard time sleeping,” He said as he sat up and turned on the lamp giving us more light. “Another vision?” I nodded. “What was it about?”  “I’m not supposed to trust Anastasia,” I said weakly.  “What do you mean?”  “A homo lupus told me not to trust her.”  “A homo lupus?” He asked me.  “Yeah I don’t know scientific names you?”  “Nah but I could look it up for you if you’d like.”  “No, I’d rather try and sleep but that ain’t going to happen.” I said looking at the clock.  “You want me to stay up with you,” Clayton asked tossing back his covers. Clayton’s body held my gaze and muffled his words as I stared at him. He was just wearing his boxer which was normal but what held my gaze was his bare skin. Almost every inch of his back and shoulders were covered in pink raised scars. “Ty?”   “No,” I said snapping out of it, “You need to rest up for the ritual.”  “That’s why I can’t sleep,” He said sitting on the edge of his bed looking at me. I smiled at him.  “You’ll do just fine,” I told him, “now get to bed mister.” I said standing up and put on my coat.  “Where are you going?” He asked.  “To the lab,” I said without another word. I closed the door to our room and slowly crept down the hallway. I held my breath as I walked past Mr. Thyro’s room. I gave a sigh of relief once I was at the staircase. I put my foot on the first step…Eeer! Justin’s door swung open and I took off in a sprint down the staircase. I heard Justin pound down the stair after me and I wanted to scream.   “Tyler?” Justin asked as I had my hand on the doorknob. I froze where I was and slowly turned to him. All the air in my lungs escaped as I took in my music teacher’s physic. He stood with a baseball bat ready to hit a homeroom in his pajama pants. My mouth watered as his muscles twitched when he lowered the bat. I was thankful my jaw didn’t hit the ground when I saw his bed head hair and noticed his 5 o’clock had gotten thicker.   “Hey,” I said breathlessly.   “What are you doing out of bed?” he asked trying to piece this scenario together. I guess saying that I’m trying to get him alone so I could kiss was the wrong answer so I went with the truth.   “Just heading out,” I said vaguely.   “I’m going to need more information than that,” He said walking closer to me.   “I’m,” I said as my voice got stuck in my throat. “I’m heading to the lab.” I managed to stutter out.   “Why?” He asked getting closer by the passing seconds.  “To do stuff,” I said as I pressed myself against the doors.   “Like?” He asked as he stopped in front of me. When I didn’t answer he placed his hands on the doorframe and leaned down closer. “Well?” He said in what I believed to be his most romantic tone of voice.   “Potions,” I sighed out.  “Why,” He asked leaning back giving me space, but not much.   “Because, we are going to need more when/if we find survivors tomorrow. Or should there be another attack.” Justin’s arms returned to his side as he looked down at me. For just a second or two I saw something flash in his eyes. Something I had never seen in this man before. Hurt. I could only imagine what he was going through. I sighed inwardly and disregarded my better judgment. I took a step toward Justin and placed my hand on his scruff and looked up at him. I was surprised that he leaned into my hand and gazed down at me. “I’m sorry,” I said softly. He raised his own hand up to mine and smiled.  “It’s okay Ty,” I said had he lowered our hands, “I won’t ever make that mistake again.” He walked over to the coat rack and grabbed his black sports jacket then tossed it on.   “What are you doing?” I asked as he opened the door for me.  “Not letting a student out of my sight,” He replied.  “You’re leaving a whole floor open.”  “Reeves is also on that floor too, he is in my room. Staff was doubled on night watches in the dorms.” Justin said as he ushered me out into the chilly night. “Stay close by me and no harm will come to you okay?” He said to me as he wrapped his arm around me. I nodded to dumbfound for words. My mind fried itself once I placed my hands on his side. All I could think was how I wanted to watch him workout or kick some guy’s ass.  “You are extremely warm,” I breathed out as my hands warmed on his sides.   “It’s a benefit of being a werewolf,” He purred out as we walked quickly across the campus. Justin held me closer as we neared closer and closer to the labs. I doubted anyone would dare attack me especially when I had Justin holding onto me the way he was, but only once did we stop. Justin growled menacingly and picked me up in his arms. Oh dear god please help me not scream if we are attacked.   Justin held my head into his neck and then sprinted to the labs. I nuzzled closer into him when I heard the rustling of branches, leaves, and bushes. I jumped when I heard a wolf cry but by then Justin and I were in the labs and he was locking the doors. “You can let go now Ty,” Justin said as he cleared his throat.   “Oh sorry,” I said as he lowered me down. My face flamed with an intense embarrassment and lust as Justin continued to look down at me.   “So what are we going to do?” He asked softly.  “I’m,” I said clearing my throat, “going to brew up some potions and you are going to make sure we don’t get mauled.”   “Alright,” He said as we ascended the stairs to alchemy lab that Brock and I were in earlier. I went straight to the cabinets and started pulling everything need for our instant health. Justin took one of the stools and moved it by the door and sat there watching me. “I was never good at alchemy,” He commented as I started pouring lithium and cobalt in bowls.   “I not the greatest but I have a small talent for it.” I said as I glanced up at him. He smiled at me as I crushed up the elements before adding vampire blood to it. I snatched the lavender, worm-wart, wolf’s bane, and sage and ground them into a fine powder dropped them into a large bottle. I threw in the thyme and the room was filled the scent of Thyme and Wolf’s Bane. Justin coughed at the scent and held his breath until I added the liquid. I grabbed a handful of man’s hair and dropped them into the liquid and the potion instantly turned a deep blue.   “That’s it?” He asked me as he watched the smile come across my face.  “Well, I could add essence of bog so the subject do not become addicts,” I said looking to him.  “Don’t you need to do your witch mojo to make it work?”   “No.”  “Then how do you know it works?” he asked giving me a doubtful look.  “You want to see it work?” I asked picking up a knife. I slashed my forearm and Justin jumped to his feet and was at my side in three strides.  “Why!” He asked as the blood oozed onto the floor. I quick grabbed the bottle and took a swig. I smiled at the warm honey taste it left and watched as the wound closed itself while reabsorbing the blood.   “See,” I said happily.   “You’re a dork,” He joked nudging my shoulder.   “But I am a smart one,” I bumped my hip against his. He laughed with me as I looked up at him. Oh his laugh, how beautiful and light it was. It made me want to stay with him for days and just listen his sweet serenading voice. Our laughter died out and for a couple of moments I couldn’t help but stare at him.   “I should go keep an eye on the door,” Justin said but didn’t move as my gaze held him in place.   “Yeah, I should probably make the acid bomb,” I said as his gaze held me in place. Finally Justin and I moved at the same time and were in a too close proximity for a teacher and student relationship. I looked up at Justin. He starting leaning down toward me and I nearly died.   His lips brushed against my ears as he whispered, “We don’t have much time.” His husky voice thick with either lust or tiredness shocked me back into reality.   “You’re right,” I said running my hand through my hair. I quickly moved away from Justin and went into making the acid bomb. Justin somewhat disappointed by my reaction walked back to his stool and kept himself busy looking out the door’s window. After I had made about six bombs my legs grew weak and tired from standing. Justin, who had never even given a sign of tiredness the entire time, suggested I finally get rest.   “It’s time for you to get your butt in bed,” Justin said as he unlocked the doors. I nodded as I leaned on the wall. Justin turned around and smiled at me. “Come on Mister. You were the one who was sneaking out and wanted to make these,” He said to as he closed the distance between us.  “I planned on sleeping in the lab until Mr. Reeves came into the lab,” I mumbled as I starting sliding down the wall. “Carry me,” I said childishly. I didn’t expect him to actually do it but he cradled me in his arms then promptly exited the Alchemy building. I smiled as his scent drifted into my nose. I unknowingly nuzzled into his neck and moaned softly. Justin pulled his head back so he could look at me as my face flamed red. Oh s**t.   “Did you just…never mind.” He said as we exited back into the night. I looked up to the sky and predicted the time frame to be around 2 am.   “Only four hours,” I whispered to myself thinking about the plans.  “What?”   “Nothing,” I said cursing my name in my mind.   “Ty,” Justin said prying.  “Until my alarm goes off.” I sighed. I felt Justin nod in response. Justin mounted the steps to Laney Hall and set me down at the door. “Thanks,” I said quietly as we entered.   “I’ll see you in the morning?” Justin asked me we walked up the stairs.   “Possibly,” I said to him as we came to our floor.   “Tyler,” He said more intimately causing me to look up at him. “I’ll see you tomorrow right.”   “Maybe, I’m on the forest detail with Anastasia,” I told him as we came to my door.   “Ty,” He said looking down at me.  “Justin,” I said his name softly as I walked into his very personal space and looked up at him, “I’ll try.” I said to him as I got on my tippy toes. Justin’s face and posture change instantly. He clenched his jaw and balled his fist.   “Tyler,” He grunted, “get in my face and things will happen.”   “Nothing has happened yet,” I whispered in his ear. I got out of his personal space sensing he was going to act quickly. “Goodnight,” I said politely to him as relaxed.   “Goodnight,” He said stiffly. I nodded to him and headed into my room. I closed the door and sighed deeply and shakily locked it. I stood at the door waiting for him leave. “Right, good night,” Justin sighed out. The floor boards squeaked as he shifted his weight and moved down the hall.   “Busy night?” I jumped and spun around to see Ian in my room. He was sitting at my desk and turned on a lamp.  “Yeah,” I said as I clutched my chest.   “We need to talk Tyler,” Ian said as he pinned me down with his eyes.   “About?” I asked coyly. He knows! Quick run and get Anastasia!  “Yes, I came here to congratulate on acting so quickly to save the school. Not to mention you were shot and as your legal guardian I came to check up on you. So I came to your room before heading to my own. So imagine how surprised I was when I found your bed empty?” He said staring me down.   “I was in the lab.” I said lowering my gaze from his. “I was making more of the healing potions and acid bombs in case we found any of the survivors or ran into a member of the UC.” I said as I sent a silent thank you prayer.   “I knew that but my question is why not wait until tomorrow morning?”   “I’m on the forest patrol and I didn’t want to trouble anyone with this,” I said looking up at him.  “So noble, you remind of Brad, your father.” He said leaning back in his chair. “I’m sorry you can’t remember him. He’d be so proud of you,” Ian said as he got up. He walked to the door unlocked it and opened it to walk out. “Oh and Tyler.” I looked up at him.   “Yes?”  “Did you have an escort?”  “Yes, uh Justin.”  “Justin?” He asked raising his eye brow.  “I mean Professor Thyro,” I said as my cheeks grew hot.  “You are on a first name bases? Care to explain?”  “He’s been helping me deal with the stress and visions.”   “Your powers are growing,” Ian smiled. “Get some rest.” I nodded and closed the door and locked it again. I stood at the door and held my breath until he walked away.   “Sweet Mary mother of baby Jesus,” I said as sat down on the ground.   “Dude,” Clayton said sitting up in the bed. “I still can’t sleep and don’t worry about the potions for the ritual I moved them after you left in case people tried to come in.”   “Oh kind of forgot about that. I completely forgot, thank you; he gave me a heart attack,” I hissed at the end. Clayton smiled and laid back down. I got up off the ground and turned off the lamp and threw myself onto the bed. “We seriously need to sleep,” I said into the pillow.  “I hear ya man,” Clayton yawned. I looked to the clock and wanted to cry. Four hours until we have to drink the potion and get up. I closed my eyes and sighed.
