" Charlotte were late for work". Charlotte heard her brother, Jason yell.
" I'll be right there". She yelled back.
Charlotte stood up from the floor of her bed room where she was arranging her things for the day, she picked up her bag, threw it across her shoulder and left her room.
"Charlotte you and your brother better come back home early, you know we have to help Mrs Sinclair with her work". Mrs Josephine told her daughter as she saw her walking towards the exit.
" Yes mum, I remember. It's Jason you're suppose to tell. He never lets us leave early because he wants to make more money". Charlotte complained as she went towards her mum to kiss her good-bye.
"Whatever, you both should come back early today, if not your going to get it from your dad".
"Yes mum. I love you". Charlotte kissed her mother good bye then left the house.
That was the drill every day. Before they could leave the house, they had to kiss the lady of the house, which was her mother, goodbye. Everyone followed the rule, everyone but her older brother, Jason.
" What were you doing in the house, do you want us to be late?" Jason questioned as he saw his sister closer to him.
" I was preparing some stuff, just so you know I'm well organized".
" Wait are you trying to say that I'm not organized? ". Jason said dramatically why faking a angry pout.
" Oh c'mon Jason, you know that your not nearly as organized as me". Charlotte said in mist of laughter
"How dare you, I'm not speaking to you again". Jason said and walked faster, leaving his sister in his dust.
"Hey Jason!". Charlotte called after him, but he didn't respond
"Jason!! C'mon, i didn't lie you know".
Jason ignored his sister for the rest of the walk which was about 20 minutes
"Jason you can't ignore me forever you know". Charlotte yelled as she saw Jason open the door to the diner they work at without even giving her a glance.
"Jason you and your sister are 2 minutes late". The manager said the moment Jason cane through the door. Jason looked up to the and was a but surprised to see the manger standing outside the entrance of the restaurant as if he had been waiting for him.
"Sir we're sorry, but it wasn't my fault. Charlotte was...."
" How many times have I told you never to blame your sister when I'm talking to you". The manager said like he really was concerned.
"I told you specifically not to be late, I don't see why you keep draging your sister in this. A real man never pushes the blame on someone else no matter what and always faces his fault".
" I'm sorry sir, this would never happen again". Jason said in as he bowed his head towards the manager.
" That was the same thing you said the last time this happened. What do you think I should do to you know Jason? ". The manager said with an evil smirk on his face.
" Sir, it was really my fault. I was preparing what you ask me to bring yesterday for you". Charlotte came in just in time to coerce the manager to let the offence go and she succeeded.
"Fine. I'll let this go today, but if this happens again, that would be the ned of your brother working in this place". The manager said obviously calmer than before.
"Thank you sir, I'll come to your office later today to drop off the item".
"I'll be expecting you later Charlotte". The manager took one last glance at Jason who was still bowing his head in apology, shook his head and walked away.
"That was a close one wasn't Jason?". Charlotte said with a small giggle.
She knew that it she spoke up, no matter what their offence was, as long as they didn't offend someone big, everything would be fine.
"You need to stop taking the manager for granted, you know what he wants and be would stop at nothing to get it from you". Jason warned as he saw his sister giggling. Their manager, Princeton was a womanizer. He was only given this job because his father knows the owner of the restaurant.
Princeton had sleep with almost all the waiters in the restaurant and had been trying to convince Charlotte so he could do the same thing to her.
"Relax, do you really think that I'll fall for that man that's at least twice my age?". Charlotte said with another giggle
"Not everything is a joke Charl, you better stop giving him chances to throw advances at you".
" You're too serious Jason. Why don't you just live a little".
Both of them started walking towards the changing room
" What did he ask you to give him anyways? ". Jason askes his little sister.
" Remember that your drawing of a car.. "
" The red one? "
" Yes, we were talking the other day and he said he liked cars and all those s**t, then I told him that I had a drawing of the best car, he had ever seen".
" You want to give him my drawing, and you didn't even want to tell me? " Jason fumed
" Um... I.. I.. er.. Oh wait it's Elijah". Charlotte changed the topic cleverly.
" Hey Christophe's, what's up ". A brown haired teenager asked. The boy had brown eyes a dreamy face and a tray on one hand.
" What's up is that Charlotte here is leading the manager on". Jason said immediately Elijah asked the question.
" Can you guys just drop the topic, customers are arriving".
Charlotte, her brother and some other waiters begun their work of serving the customers. Charlotte waited her table normally like she always does, not having any idea that her normal life was about to change for good. ,
