83 Left Behind

1005 Words

The silver wolf snarled at her. Stop, he warned her. Esther could tell he had the dominance of an Alpha, but none of the Alpha power behind it. What did you do? She snarled. Who are you? I saved you, he snapped. You can’t go there. My human is there! I have to get back to her. She needs me, Esther told him. She eased her attack stance. Maybe if her understood why she needed to go there, he wouldn’t keep her from leaving. It doesn’t matter, he said, shrugging and easing his stance. She noticed his left foot was missing. These weren’t their forms in the waking world. What would cause his form in the Aether to be disfigured? Esther took the moment he relaxed to attack. She launched herself at him in a fury and aimed for his good foot to knock him off balance. This wouldn’t take long.
