16 Enemy Mine

1540 Words

My first week back at school was hell. If I thought the treatment in my own home was difficult, it was tenfold here. I had a front row seat to watching Eliza claim my life. First was my friends. I had no phone anymore, so I had no contact with anyone over the long weekend, and any hopes of Amanda or Erica remembering our friendship were dashed as soon as I walked up to the school. They were greeting and introducing themselves to Eliza, and she was teary-eyed from all the acceptance she was receiving. Once they realized I was walking up to the school grounds, they began whispering behind their hands and looking at me. I went straight into my homeroom class of History and sat in the back. Once everyone was in and the bell rang, Ms. Joyce stood up and looked at Eliza with a pleased smile.
