Chloe’s POV I quietly entered the house, the weight of the recent events pressing heavily upon my shoulders. Passing by Mara's room, I couldn't help but steal a glimpse of her peaceful slumber, her breathing as gentle as a dove's soft cooing. My steps were hushed, but my thoughts were tumultuous. Derek's words echoed in my mind as he advised me to use the guest room, so as not to disturb her serene repose. He feared that my presence might jolt her awake, exposing her to the horrors I had just endured. And so, with a heavy heart, I followed his counsel and made my way to the guest room. Inside, I closed the door behind me, shutting out the world and the memories that threatened to consume me. The room felt like a sanctuary, a temporary refuge from the nightmare that had become my reality
