Darius The night felt bland and dry. After the rainfall, the entire palace was silent. Not even the sounds of squeaky rats were heard. The aura felt off, like we were all in mourning. I tried to eat the lavish delicacies and assorted food and drinks displayed on the dining table, but nothing seemed to go down. “Take this away.” I ordered the maids to return them to the kitchen. Their eyes widened in shock as I was known not to play around with food. Yet, they could not muster a word out of their mouths as they carried the trays and nodded away in respect. I noticed an exquisite bottle of wine placed beside me along with the dishes. I quickly held it before it was taken out. After opening the top and gulping down many glasses of wine, I finally had enough and headed back to my chambers.
