XXXI. SHAKESPEARE IN THE PARK My odor was magnificently offensive. Other passengers on the train couldn’t move away from me fast enough. I needed to walk through a car wash to blast the stink off me. But I did not want to go home. I needed to keep moving and felt that as soon as I walked through the door of my fancy new apartment I may curl up on the bed and never leave. It was too cool for anyone to go swimming, so I thought maybe Lasker Pool in Central Park might serve as a good place to clean off. There were no lifeguards on duty and no one inside the pool area.
