XVI. ESTRELLA IS BORN
Word of my “Bridge” performance spread like wildfire. I was bombarded with invites from every lame garage band in town to join them or jam with them. The band names were hysterical: “PMS” … “Stooge Fright” … “Crack Horse” … “Limp Richard.” If they had only applied as much attention to their playing as they did to naming their group, some of them might have seen some success. On second thought… no. They all sucked.
It was nice to see a spike in playing musical instruments, at least locally. Schools had slashed music programs throughout the country. X-Box and PlayStation lured kids beginning at around age eight, with some sort of crack-like addiction. Back then, more kids were playing Garage Band than were playing in a real-life band.
