When Julian entered the house, the first thing he noticed was Willow curled up on the sofa. A light blanket draped over her legs as she watched TV, her cheeks puffed like a chipmunk's as she nibbled on snacks. He walked over, intending to ask her about the past four years of her life. But when he reached her, the words caught in his throat. Willow tilted her head, looking up at him as he blocked her view of the screen. She sat up slightly, reaching out to touch his forehead.
