Shuji, on his day off, decided to stay at home instead of going to the Liao Firm. He went into the kitchen and brewed his coffee.
Raiden, seeing Shuji from the living room, called out to him. “Son, can you come to the Liao Firm?”
Shuji, surprised, replied, “Huh? It’s my day off, Papa. I don’t plan to leave today.”
Raiden explained, “I can’t go to the Liao Firm. I have to meet with lawyers. Our investors from the Liao Company arrived simultaneously. I can’t go to the Liao Company. I hope you can be my proxy because I know you’re familiar with the company. You’re in your first semester.”
Shuji, holding his coffee cup, said, “I plan to return to college, Pa. When my contract ends this year, I’ll stop modeling.”
Raiden, serious, said, “It’s good then, son. It’s a shame you didn’t finish. You should have graduated, and you’re helping me manage our company, except for your passion.”
Shuji replied, “You’re right, Papa. When my contract with Sakura ends, I’ll go back to school.”
They both walked out of the kitchen and went to the garden.
Raiden asked, “Are you going to do anything, except stay here?”
Shuji replied, “Nothing, Papa. What time are you talking about?” He thought he would just be bored at home.
Shuji wasn’t used to staying indoors on a day off.
Raiden said, “Lunchtime, son, before twelve noon.”
Shuji asked, “I’ll ask, Papa, for your files/folders that you’re going to discuss at the Liao Firm today. I’ll try to go there, but I’m not sure yet.” He wanted to help his father when he knew what to do, but he couldn’t attend.
“I’ll give you the information later, before eleven. I’m leaving to visit our Liao Company,” Raiden said to his son as he finished brewing the coffee.
He noticed Lixue walking towards them.
“Good morning, ninong!” Lixue greeted when she approached. Shuji quickly looked at her before looking away, as if he was lost without an explanation.
“Are you leaving?” Raiden asked his godchild when Shuji noticed his stop.
Shuji stared at them as he watched Lixue look at them.
“Yes, I wish I had someone to take care of,” Lixue replied, smiling at Shuji without taking her eyes off him.
“Are you going there?” Raiden asked his godchild if he knew where.
“Yes, ‘nong,” Lixue replied to her godfather Raiden as she said goodbye and went back inside.
“Where is she going?” Shuji asked his father as he followed Lixue’s gaze when she stopped in front of them.
“I can’t tell you where, son. She’ll just go home at night,” Raiden replied to his son, immediately getting up to walk back inside their house.
Shuji wondered what his father and Lixue were hiding from him. He stood up and followed his father as he saw Lixue still nod at his father.
“Come! We’re in the office. There’s what you want to ask for. If you can’t come, return the files there,” Raiden replied to his son, looking back at him.
Raiden looked over and saw his son nodding as they walked into his office inside their house.
“These are the files. You’ll also study what’s written there,” Raiden said to his son when he handed them to him. He looked at the five files he was holding.
Shuji opened the folder and saw the income of the Liao Firm, along with a case that needed discussion.
“Is there a case filed here?” Shuji asked. He showed his father what he saw written.
“Yes, senyoru shimin ni mada totatsu shite inai kodomo, wakai josei, otona o ukeirete iru shinjiketorida wa, higaisha no 1-ri ga rida no 1-ri ni fuman o uttaetaga shinjiketo no ridade wanai koto o mitomemashita,” Raiden said to his son, seriously looking at the files.
(Yes, a syndicate leader was taking in children, young women, and adults who had not yet reached the status of señor citizens. One of his victims had complained to one of the leaders, but admitted to us that it was not the leader of the syndicate.)
“Have you ever wondered who the leader of the syndicate is? And this is the profit of the company shareholders.” Shuji told his father when they spoke in Japanese. It was such a serious matter that they didn’t speak Tagalog for the privacy of the company.
(Have you ever wondered who the leader of the syndicate is? And this is the profit of the company shareholders.)
“The minimum wage is 409.00, but we will increase it by 25%. They said that 20% of the worker’s salary should be the percentage of the company’s profit. I don’t care about the money. I talked to the LEDO secretary. They will get P81.8. It should be P102.25 for our lawyers and employees. I will also tell the Liao Company later.” Raiden said he wrote what he was saying in a notebook. Shuji looked at it.
“Our shareholder is now 60%. The previous P500,000,000 will be only P300,000,000.” Raiden said to his son when he told him his computation.
“The price has also dropped. Why?” Shuji asked his father because he immediately thought of all that.
“I’ll talk to our business partners. That’s all, son. There are things with me first. When you graduate, I will pass on the management of the company to you, unless you build your own. I will pass it on to your brother or your future husband, you.” Raiden answered as he patted his son on the shoulder before he left his office.
Raiden even met his godchild and said goodbye to her. Shuji also followed with the files. He saw that his father stopped and Lixue hid a little.
“I’m leaving. I’ll just sort out the information I gathered and give it to you right away,” Lixue answered her godfather Raiden. She had calmed down when he nodded to her.
Shuji witnessed the encounter and observed it from the front door of his father’s office. He returned the folder his father had given him, believing that if he learned about the Liao Firm, it would be given to him and not to his future wife. He also wanted to know something about the company’s management. Consequently, he decided to pass on another company to his sister.
“I don’t trust Erika as my future wife because our company will lose money with her,” Shuji thought to himself as he read everything he had decided to go to their company.
This made Shuji believe that his girlfriend was extravagant, which made him anticipate the future.
Hours later, after taking a bath in his room, Shuji immediately left their house and headed to the garage where his car had been driven to their company.
At the Underground Agents Company, Agent Zero was typing on her laptop when her door opened.
“This is our latest mission, as the boss said,” Agent One approached.
“May I see?” Agent Zero asked seriously to her fellow agents.
“Mr. Don Emilio Gayag is a drug dealer and syndicate. He has a daughter named Aiya Gayag,” Agent One mentioned.
Lixue looked up and read the folder her colleague was holding.
“Gayag? Is the boss still in the office?” Agent Zero asked.
“He’s not in his office because he’s going upstairs,” Agent One replied.
“I’ll take care of that. I’ll talk to the boss. When is the due date of the mission?” Agent Zero asked.
“By the end of March 31, 2012. The two of us will do it if he’s caught,” Agent One answered.
“And his daughter will be caught in the act,” Agent Zero replied.
“Caught in the act?” Agent One said, staring at his colleague when she mentioned the daughter named Gayag.
“Exactly! Get complete information about his family, especially his daughter, two weeks before the end of this month. You can give me what you have gathered so that we can plan what to do and what we should do to catch them,” Agent Zero said seriously and turned to her laptop again.
“What’s your connection with Shuji, Aiya? I can handle two missions for you, I promise.” Lixue thought to herself as she searched for Aiya’s true personality, both publicly and privately.
At Liao Firm,
Shuji was greeted by his father’s partners and received thunderous applause from his father’s lawyer partners at the business firm. He then began explaining what was needed.
“Where is your father?” a lawyer asked Shuji, who immediately looked.
“My father is at the Liao Company, sir. So, I’m his proxy now. I can’t say anything bad, not because my father is your boss, but because of how well this company is run,” Shuji said seriously, looking at the lawyers in front of him.
“We want to talk to your father before we agree. Not because your explanation isn’t good, but because we want to hear it from his mouth. You’ll be a good boy and can lead it,” the lawyer replied to Shuji, who nodded, knowing they still didn’t believe he could do it.
“Thank you, sir,” Shuji replied to the lawyer.
Everyone stood up from their seats and shook Shuji’s hand.
“If your father transfers you here, I want you to be the president of the company. You have the ability to communicate,” the lawyer said to Shuji, and the other lawyer agreed with what the person in front of him said.
“Understand what happened first. Please tell your father,” another old lawyer said.
Shuji nodded and followed to go home to their house. As he drove home, he was thinking about what had happened. Lixue came home late with her godfather, Raiden. She went straight to her room to rest.
