Chapter Three

1081 Words
Kimberly's POV Desperately, I thought of a perfect excuse to give him. Something that would make any man reject a woman. Something so awful he wouldn't want to spend another second with me. But nothing came into my head. I knew he wasn't going to just accept what I said even if I told him I had a contagious disease. He would want proof. My door swung open and another man walked in carrying a briefcase. Aaron turned to look at the man, " Hank, this is Kimberly Zadinito." Then he turned to me, " Kimberly, this is Hank Lesnar, my financial advisor and friend. He was the one who notified me about your scam." The second intruder pompously stared at me as Aaron spoke. I could tell he was probably expecting congratulations on catching me. Without even giving him a proper glance, I turned to Aaron, " Can we please be done with whatever this is? Spending another second with you is like burning in hell" " Really?," Aaron asked, " But we are married. I hope you know we will be spending an awful lot of time together." I took a long deep breath and then exhaled like I had held my breath for a long time, " I have made my peace with that. I am sure I am going to come out alive. Besides, when I start working, I will pay back every cent I owe and pray never to see you again." " That's if you can pay back. If you can't, are you sure you can survive over a year with me, Kimmy cat?" " Oh, you have no idea how much I can take." I faked a smile, knowing he had purposely called me that name just to get me angry. " So the papers?," I glanced at the man he called Hank, " What are the terms?" " Patience Kim, let's take it slowly. No need to rush." he collected the papers from the other man and handed them to me. Then he lightly tapped the couch he was sitting on, "Come sit, let's talk." " I am perfectly fine standing." He shrugged, " Alright then, suit yourself." and then he turned open the documents in his hands, "On page three you'd find all the clauses. Whatever you are not okay with, you state it out. We will try to find a compromise." he looked at me, " Understand?" Now it was my turn to ignore him as his questions weren't important, " First clause says I adhere to the duration of the contract." I glanced at him, " That's fine by me," " Good," he nodded. When I set my eyes on the second clause, I frowned at him, " Now this is where the problem begins. There is no way in hell would I allow you to parade me around like I am your trophy wife. I am a fully independent woman and I have my own life to live." His brows wrinkled, " It only says you are required to accompany me to every gathering I need you to." " It says both formal and informal. That means I am obligated to even go to your frat party if you need me to. That I will not accept that. Do you think I am dumb or something?" " Hey, there is no need for anger. Remember, I said we could reach a compromise." he paused briefly, " So, would you accept it if we struck out the informal gatherings?" " I will accept it if we both strike out." " No that's not possible." he shook his head definitely. I knew he wasn't going to agree with both, but at least it was worth trying. " Alright. Informal is out." I turned to the third clause, " Both parties are obligated to make sure whatever relationship they have outside the contract must never get out to the public." I looked at him, " So you plan on cheating while married to me?." " I never said I was in love with you. You forced me into this, remember. Besides, we both need our freedom. This is only a business transaction." " You bet it is." I replied, then went for the fourth clause, " This relationship is advised to remain platonic. Both parties should do their best to keep off any form of s****l relations during the duration of the contract." " Yes," " Isn't that obvious? Do you think I have plans to let you even touch my fingertips? " He smiled for a couple of seconds in silence. Somewhere deep down inside me I wanted a reply. But he didn't. " The fifth clause is also part of the non-disclosure agreement." he continued with contract talk, " On no account should any of us divulge any info about our kind of relationship to anyone. Especially the press." I scoffed and shook my head. What does this i***t think of me for? I wondered. A fool, " You know I am a lawyer?." " Yes, why?." " And you know that I know a lot about marriage contracts like this, so I know what kind of clauses are in them." " Alright, if you do. Why are you still going through it? Why don't you just sign it?" " Because only a fool would sign without going through. And look at the paragraph, " I raised the paper I was holding so he could see it, " It says here that a pregnancy is totally against the contract. " " Yeah," " What would possibly make a pregnancy occur when this is just a contract marriage?" " Well," he relaxed on the chair and an annoyingly cocky smile formed on his lips, " You can never tell. We might want to let off some steam at some point in time." " Not even in your wildest dreams. That would be the last thing that would ever happen. Even if you are the only man....... Someone's phone rang out, interrupting me. It was Hank's, and he excused himself and went out. When he came back, the atmosphere instantly changed. He moved toward Aaron and then whispered something into Aaron's ear. " What?," whatever Hank said to Aaron almost turned Aaron pale. He threw me a quastical glance without saying anything. " What's wrong ?," I asked. " Did you file for a change of name?" " Yes I did. Why?"
