The days just keep getting better and better!
I've never felt so hyped like this for anything in weeks, I mean you'd have to agree that helping a head-stuck-in-the-cloud ghost is a relatively boring job to do. Plus he's so ungrateful and insensitive that sometimes I feel like slapping the brains out of him.
Well, these all aside I'm feeling excited for this new day, I'll finally get to know how Reece views me if he doesn't find me sexy enough (This can be fixed with a little shopping) or he feels I'm not up to his standards to have s*x with him (Which should be a capital offence for, as far as I know, I'm the hottest stuff around. Who wouldn't want me?) He's too shy to sling a d**k down my hole? (Understandable but so far, not the best idea to be thought of as the cause of this whole situation)
So, whatever Mark comes up with can be fixed and maybe, just maybe I'll be able to get back together with him.
Indeed it is, as they say, first love, only love but I've never been one to believe in all these crap and facts. Now I'm coveted and I couldn't be more thankful about it.
Anyways, I walk into the kitchen all spruced up and ready. I even booked a small low profile cab so Reece won't get suspicions while we follow him. For the first time in weeks, I'm immensely pleased with myself.
Mark's sitting idly on the countertop, trying his hardest to hold a glass of half-filled champagne. He's got a new black shirt on and peach shorts which looks so striking that it's a sin having him wear it. I should be the one wearing it. He's such a prude to own such luxuries.
"Neat clothes huh?" I compliment, pulling the fridge back to pour myself some milk. He ignores me, his attention focused on the glass. "Okay Hunny bun, quit trying. It's obvious that you're more dead than alive."
"I know that!" he looks at me stonily. "You don't have to keep on repeating such cruel words. Trust me, I've heard them long enough."
"So, you ready to get all snoopy?" I beam, too thrilled to finish my milk. Dumping the cup into the sink, I say. "We'll leave now to buy us time to get to his place. He lives a little far off on the Express as I've researched. Get ready, the cab would soon be here."
Gosh, the thought of seeing Reece after so long gives me the butterflies. He's grown so handsome, sporting a moustache and looking all sleek and glossy in black suits in his photos I'd seen online. Getting back together with him would be the best thing that'd happen to me cause he's so rich and high-profiled... I'll have the spotlight on me soon.
And even better... what if we get married, bring forth babies and act like those couples I've seen smiling in the mackerel ads. We'll have twin boys and when they're all big, we'll attend their football games and competitions in high school, watch them get married and eventually when we get old, we'll have grandbabies taking care of us.
What a dream.
With these thoughts spiralling through my mind, I pick up the ringing phone. "Good morning!" I give Mark a wink which he responds to with a facepalm. "I'll be down in a minute - "
"Peter? It's me, Tina. Mag just told me you've returned and I'm just stopping by to say hi. I'm downstairs right now."
Oh no, I crash the phone down in disbelief, freaked out already. Tina Bloomboll. Reece's girlfriend! Of all times to show up! I take a peek down to see her in a sparkling white dress, waving frantically at me.
Ugh, bugger.
Alright, Peter. Stall her. Make her go away, just do something! Don't let her find about your latest intention of stealing her boyfriend.
I take bold steps out of the building to meet her on the pavement. She beams at me, face coated with the goofiest make-up I've ever seen. Her gown's Vuitton and I can tell it's fresh from the shops with how sparkling it looks. Great, she's still with Reece. She's still got a perfect life.
"Hello Pete, it's been quite a long time for the both of us," She pulls me into an air-kiss and draws back. "How are you doing?"
She's a natural at pretences, I'll give her that.
"I'm fine!" I try to sound breezy. "Been busy with doctoring school and stuff. Stressed out in fact..."
"Wow. Doctoring school," She sounds dubious, nodding her big head, more like flat-out surprised as if I'm not fit to be a Doctor or pursue a high-strung career. I'm pretty sure she expected me to say I study Gardening. Or carpentry, anything shameful enough to earn her a good laugh.
"That's a nice choice."
Trust me, honey, it is.
"Yeah, What's with you and Reece these days? You both still together?" I try not to sound too eager lest she'll get suspicious. Boy, how I want to rip her head off her body for being the chosen one. She's so going to have a heart attack. She's so going to die when Reece suddenly dumps her and get back with me instead. I can't wait to see her face when Reece decides to marry me. It'd be a Cinderella break-up scene with me getting most out of the show.
"Well," she's grinning widely and I feel like reaching out to slap that smile off. "He's decided that we should take our relationship to the next level. We're getting married!" she squeals and jumps like a clown.
I give her an acid smile, one that turns cultlike. I feel like a wizard beating a mantra to some whacky cult.
Ha-ha-ha that's not happening.
Ha-ha-ha Reece is mine!
"What about you? Found someone to hook up with since your boyfriend died?" She gives me a cheeky smile and at her words, my smile grows more cultlike.
Ha-ha-ha I'm so not single.
Ha-ha-ha I'm snatching your man!
I'm about to tell Tina that I've got everything sorted when a cab pulls up beside us on the sidewalk and the driver leans out.
"Sixth Wing Block, Off Virginia Express?"
Ugh. Bad timing. Tina's exchanging looks between the driver and me. "Reece's apartment? You're going to see him?"
"Not exactly," I say tartly. "A friend of mine invited me over and it so happens he lives close to Reece."
"Well, anyone I know of?" her smile returns and there's a conspirational glint in her eyes. I feel stuffed when the driver calls out louder this time. "Cab booked to go to Reece's Heavener apartment?"
He's such a fool! Darn.
Tina looks at me critically. "But you - "
"I hope to say hello to Reece too... that's if I find him around." I improvise at last. "To sort out a few things. He knows I'm coming. Wait up!" I tell the driver.
"Liar!" Mark shrieks from behind me and I turn to see him making his way furiously over. "He's head over heels for s*x with your boyfriend and wants me to spy on him. He's such a snitch and he's making me dance to his tune!"
"Shoo!" I mutter fervently. "Get the hell out of here!"
"Pardon?" Tina's taken aback.
"No!" I exclaim, mustering my calmest tones. "I meant nothing. I'm fine and totally seeing someone." I blurt out to distract her.
"You're so fake," Mark whirls around in scathing pity.
"Shut the f**k up!" I stare him down. "I'll meet you in the cab. Go!"
I look back at Tina to see her eyes wide. Oh, crap she thinks I'm a lunatic now. "I'm so sorry. Not in the best state of health these past days. I'm seeing Frank. He's a plumber..." I trail off.
Oh God, what have I just done?
"Frank? That handsome young chap living on the second floor? You're seeing him? Oh, Pete! What luck!"
You mean what yuck, I correct mentally.
"You're over Mark already? That's really brave of you. He was such a sweet boyfriend I'd never forget about him in a moment if I were you."
So glad you're not me.
"Er... it's as they say, one's got to move on. I'll have to get on my way now. Don't want to keep the driver waiting." I smile as I hug her stiff body. She's probably still in shock. "It's been great seeing you and I wish you and Reece a successful married life."
"We're not - " She begs to differ.
"I know, I know. But you will be soon so... wishing you guys all the best. See ya!" I hurry off toward the cab opposite. I do feel sorry for Tina. I really do. Poor b***h doesn't know what hit her cause I'm not going to back down. I have to steal this one treasure for myself. Maybe she can have Frank aka Mr Grumpy. That'd be a perfect match, they'd look cute together. A fashion doll and a strict grumpy honeybun. I should plan their wedding alongside me and Reece. Or give Tina an apple. That'd make up for the heartbreak she's about to experience.
