I didn’t tell Kai or Raya about seeing Rowan. When I heard Kai calling my name from across the market, I turned so fast I almost tripped. By the time I looked back, Rowan was gone. Like he’d never been there. Kai reached me first, his eyes scanning the crowd. “Who were you talking to?” I swallowed hard. My mouth felt dry. “No one.” He frowned, glancing past me, but I forced a shaky smile and held up a silver trinket I bought at the stall. “ This just … this caught my eye.” Kai didn’t look convinced, but Raya distracted him by dragging him toward another shop.
