Innocent me.... Episode 13

289 Words
The sound of sirens grew louder, flashing red and blue lights spilling through the shattered window. Ella instinctively stepped back, her heart racing uncontrollably. Jayden grabbed her wrist. “Don’t move.” But the hooded man didn’t run. Instead, he looked almost… expected. “This is how it always starts,” he muttered. Within seconds, police officers surrounded the small convenience store. A loud voice ordered them to come out with their hands up. Jayden tightened his grip slightly. “Stay behind me.” Ella shook her head, confused and scared. “Jayden, I don’t understand any of this anymore.” Before he could answer, the hooded man suddenly raised his hands. “I’m coming out,” he said calmly. Jayden’s eyes widened. “No—wait!” But it was too late. The man stepped into the rain, disappearing into the flashing lights as officers rushed toward him. Everything happened fast. Shouts. Struggling. Then silence. Ella stood frozen, watching through the broken glass as the man was forced into a police car. Jayden exhaled sharply, anger flashing in his eyes. “They planned this.” Ella turned to him. “Planned what?” He hesitated… then finally said, “He didn’t come here to scare us. He came to bring you out.” Ella’s stomach dropped. “Bring me out for who?” Jayden looked at her with an expression she had never seen before. Fear. “For the person who’s been watching you since you were a child.” Just then, Ella’s phone vibrated again. Unknown Number. A new message appeared on the screen: “You’ve remembered enough. Now come home, Ella.” And attached was an address she had never seen before… but somehow felt familiar.
