About 1500 years after Moses, this time John the Baptist, who was also Jesus" cousin, called out to the people in the desert near the Jordan River:
- “I baptize you with water. But there is someone who will come after me who is superior to me. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and Fire.”
Upon this mysterious word of John, when all the people were baptized and Jesus was there, suddenly the heavens opened and the Holy Spirit descended upon him, shining like a dove.
