St. Peter"s Basilica was one of the four largest basilicas in Rome and the center of the Catholic Faith, it is the most conspicuous structure in the Vatican. Built on an area of 23,000 m² and with a massive size of 222 meters, it was also the largest church in Christianity with a capacity of 60,000 people.
St. Peter"s Basilica was built between 1506 and 1626 on the site where one of Jesus" apostles Peter is believed to be buried, and named after him. Its architects include Donato Bramante, Antonio da Sangallo, Michelangelo, Vignola, Giacomo della Porta, Carlo Maderno, Gianlorenzo and Bernini.
