The air was thick with the stench of sulfur, and the sky was a deep, foreboding red. The sound of crackling flames and distant screams filled the air, a constant reminder of the Realm's dark nature.
In the Demon realm lived a very powerful demon with the powers of different beings. He had the powers of different creatures and was the head of the demon world.
Drake, the father of three sons from two different mothers, but only one of his sons got all his powers. He was happy he had a son who got all the powers he had and would be the next owner of his realm. His wife was given to him by his father because they had powers, but the mother of his favorite son was his first love. For some reason, Drake was not on good terms with his son Travis.
"Did something happen? You look pale, Father!" his first son, Dalton, asked.
"Do you want something from me? You never care about my health, unless you have something to ask from me!" Drake replied with a frown on his face.
"You got it all wrong, I don't need anything from you, I just want to know how you are doing!" Dalton defended.
"Why are you like this to your son? He is just asking you, that shows he is concerned about you. You don't have to show that you hate him," Dalton's mother, Drake's wife, said.
"I don't hate any of my sons, I only react to how they have been to me all this while!" Drake replied.
"Where is Travis? Isn't he supposed to be back now?"
"He is! But he is in his room, Lord Drake," the right-hand man replied. Drake stood up immediately and went straight to Travis' room.
He knocked on the door.
"I told you not to interrupt me!" Travis yelled from inside.
"Lord Travis! It's Lord Drake!" Nick, Travis' personal guard, yelled.
The door opened, and a young lady ran outside with her clothes in her hand.
"When would you stop all these and settle for one girl?" Drake asked immediately when he got in.
Travis covered his lower body with the duvet while he had nothing up.
"I don't need to tell you my personal life, it belongs to me and I do whatever I want. What message do you have for me?" Travis asked rudely.
The tension was palpable as Drake and Travis engaged in a silent stare-down.
Drake sat down on an empty seat in his room.
"I heard you fought off a rival pack today, and you came back in victory. You did well, Keep it up!" His father complimented.
"I have always brought victory back to the demon realm and everyone knows about that. Hearing someone tell me congratulations doesn't sound new to me. Is that the message you have for me?" Travis asked.
"No! I got information from the human world, "My cousin's daughter's guardians were killed, and I need you to go bring her back here, now!" Drake commanded.
Travis chuckled.
He got down from the bed, went to his wardrobe, picked out something simple and wore it.
"You have other sons, why are you asking me to do it? Gregory, or better still, Melvin, would be glad to help you do it. I am very sure about that, and I am too busy to run errands for you. I'm not here to run errands!"
"I have my reasons for telling you to do it, and you will know when the time comes!" Drake answered.
"But the main reason is that I can only trust you, I…"
"Do you know what I hate about you? The way you pretend to care about me when you do not. You never showed me love when I was little, so why now? Because you discovered I've got all your powers, and I am the next Demon Lord?" he asked, a little bit angered. Lines appeared on his forehead showing how angry he was.
"And I hate the way you understand me. I have my reasons for doing things, and as the demon king, you have to respect me until you take over. Now go to the human world and bring her back. She is under your care, and you must take care of her, no matter what happens," he commanded and left.
"Who does he think he is?" Travis laughed.
His hands went through his long dark hair.
"No matter what you do, I will never forgive you for doing what you did to my mother. You made her believe her life was nothing, and you made her kill herself. I'll make you pay slowly," Travis whispered.
"Nick!"
"Yes Lord Travis!" Nick answered, running inside.
"Follow me!" he ordered. Travis wore black leather clothes and covered his face. Since he was going to the human world, he had to cover his face and body well, so he wouldn't leave any traces behind.
He appeared at the house using the signal his father dropped. He entered the room, still invisible, and found a young girl crying.
"Damn!" Travis muttered.
"Is she the girl who my father asked me to bring back?" he asked.
Nick opened the paper in his hands to check, and it was a drawing of the girl.
"Yes, she is!"
"So, she lost her parents! If she is my father's cousin, what is she doing in the human world?" Travis asked Nick.
"Don't you think this whole thing is somehow confusing?"
"I don't know the full details, but she isn't fully related to your father as a cousin. I heard him telling Uncle Rufus yesterday about taking a girl in. I heard Uncle Rufus was going somewhere and won't be able to take care of her again, she…"
"I don't want to listen to any details, I don't care, let us just take her home!" Travis made himself visible and walked close to the young girl. As he walked close to her, he saw her picking something from the floor. He knew she was about to attack, and before she could do it, he grabbed her by the neck and pinned her on the wall.
He was about to talk, when he heard a loud scream in his head from the girl he was holding. The scream was loud and a pain in his ear. He lost balance and fell to the floor.
