Gideon POV
I was fascinated. Kiara is unpredictable and fearless. She’s not like any other woman that I’ve dated before. If only she knew how dangerous my dad is, maybe she would think twice about confronting him like earlier. But I like the sassy side of her. To be honest, it’s kinda hot.
“Go after her, Gideon!” Mom said after Kiara ran down the stairs. I was about to do the same without her telling me because it would be impossible for her to get a cab here. I grabbed the car key and ran after her. This isn’t the time for her to be stubborn.
“Get in!” I told her after I lowered the window. She looked away as she said. “No need for that. I could get a taxi. Your dad might—“ I got off the car and went to the other side, holding the door open for her.
“Just get in the freaking car, or I swear I kiss you here so my dad and the rest of them could see us,” I said, threatening her. God knows I wasn’t kidding. The guards were snickering behind us, but then they stopped after I threw them a glare.
“Fine!” she finally said, rolling back her eyes before she got into the car. I closed the door and went to the driver’s seat.
“Ready?” I asked after putting on my own seatbelt. I couldn’t help but to laugh after seeing her pouting. “What are you laughing at?” she asked, raising an eyebrow at me. “Nothing, you look cute when you’re angry,” I said, pinching her nose to tease her.
“It’s because of your dad.” She replied, folding both hands in front of her chest. “Speaking of which, why’d you never use this car before?” she asked me curiously. “I like riding my bike more than this car. And women thought it was hot.” I admitted, combing my hair using my finger.
“I have to disagree with them. I like this car.” She said, her hands went to touch the screen in the dashboard. Okay, duly noted. Next time I’ll bring this baby whenever I have to take her out. The sound of music blasting inside the car, she then started to sing along with the music, off tune.
I couldn’t stop laughing because I just knew that she couldn’t sing. But she didn’t seem to bother at all. She was in her own world. She is right. Riding a car with her is much more fun.
“Oh s**t, it’s dad!” she suddenly said, lowering the music volume. She cleared her throat before she answered the call. “Dad…” she said, her expression suddenly changed.
“I went outside to jog.” She then reasoned with her dad. Her dad must be asking about her whereabouts, and she lied. “I’ll be back after a while. You can go first to the office without me.” She then said. “No, I am not going to attend that stupid ball. We’ll talk about this later, okay?” She snarled before she ended the calls. She blew out a breath, and her mood suddenly changed after talking to her dad.
“What’s the matter?” I asked her. “It’s dad…” she said. “He asks for my presence in the office, and he was talking about some ball event this weekend.” I could tell there’s more to this. “Then what’s with the gloomy expression? Let me guess. Your ex is going to be there as well?”
She shrugged her shoulders. “I don’t know, maybe. But one thing for sure, I had to bring a partner there.” She said, shoving her phone back into her bag. “Well, I can go with you if you want.” I then offered.
She turns to look at me in surprise. “What? Are you sure?” she asked me, her eyes went wide. “Either way, I am going to meet your dad too, right? This could be perfect timing to do it.” I told her.
She shook her head in disapproval. “But we’re not done with you yet. You can’t meet my dad like this.” I stepped on the brake and stopped in the middle of the road.
“Done with me? What’s that supposed to mean? I am not good enough for you?” I asked her, feeling slightly offended. Did she just say that I am not boyfriend material? That’s the first time I heard it, and it hurt a lot. She pulled her hair in frustration. “It’s not that. I just feel like we didn’t know each other that much to meet dad.” She countered back.
“We still had a week left. I think we can do this. What do you say if we catch up every day after you finish with work?” I asked her. She seemed to be in deep thought for a while before she finally agreed.
“I think that’s a great idea.” She said with a smile. I then continued to drive. It took us another thirty minutes before we finally arrived at her place. “Wait for me here. I am going to change real quick, and you’re going to take me to the office.” I bowed in front of her.
“Anything for you, princess,” I replied. I tried to make myself comfortable inside the car while I was waiting for her to get ready. To be honest, I felt a bit sleepy. I don’t think I had enough sleep last night. I was watching her while she was asleep. She was beautiful, but let me tell you something. She looked even more breathtaking in the morning as the morning sun hit her face. True goddess.
I was still picturing her face inside my mind when I drifted to sleep.

Kiara POV
I groaned after putting on the third outfit. This blazer looked too formal for a date. I’d never thought dressing up for both work and date would be this troublesome. I am excited about trying this new thing with Gideon. But I have to be careful because I can’t fall for him. I am only using him to get out of this arrange marriage. I should stick to the plan.
I smiled after putting on the fourth outfit. It was a light pink blouse with a ribbon. I paired them with a nude pencil skirt that hugged my curves perfectly. I think this could be the one.
After styling my hair, I just realized that it took me two hours to get ready. Gideon must be bored to death waiting for me. I hurriedly grabbed my bag and went back to the car.
By the time I got there, I saw Gideon sleeping inside the car. I knocked a few times until he woke up. He opened the door for me, and I hurriedly got in. “I am sorry if I take too long,” I said to him.
“Oh wow…” he replied. “Do I look okay? This is the best I could find in a short amount of time.” I asked him back nervously. “This is very okay.” He said in approval. I couldn’t help but let out a small chuckle at him. He moved closer and touched my face. I knew that he was about to kiss me, but I wanted to make him wait until our date later tonight. You know, they said to leave a man wanting for more.
“We should be going. I am already late for work.” I said, stopping him by his chest. He heaved a deep sigh. “You’re right… I am sorry.” He said, revving up the engine. I stifled a laugh after seeing his expression.
“So, I’ll pick you up at six?” he asked before I got off the car. “Yeah, call me when you got here,” I replied to him. I gave him a quick peck on the cheek. “See you later, handsome,” I said before I left the car.
*************
I jumped back in shock as I saw my dad sitting at my desk inside my room. “Dad, you scared me! What are you doing here in my office?” I asked, raising an eyebrow at him.
He got up from my swivel chair and walked towards me. “Are you avoiding me, Kiara?” he asked with a cold tone. “N-no, of course not. Why did you say that?” I replied a bit stuttering. “Ever since that proposal at the restaurant, you’ve been very… solitary. You won’t even talk to me.” He said, raising his voice.
I blew out a breath as I put my bag on the desk. “Oh please, dad. You’re exaggerating,” I said in reply, brushing my hair.
“Really? You left me to jog alone this morning. You know we’d always jogged together ever since you were a teenager.” he told me accusingly. “Don’t be ridiculous, dad. I just need a new perspective.” I said, putting both hands over his shoulders. He knitted his eyebrows at me.
“Something’s different about you.” He said suspiciously at me.
“Really? What was it?” I said, touching my face. Am I getting old? “You’re glowing…” he said, nodding his head.
“Am I?” I was now putting both hands over my cheek. “Do you have a new boyfriend?” he guessed. I smirked at him. “I won’t tell you. Now I need you to leave because I have a lot of jobs to do today. Apparently, my CEO dad is very dependent on me.” I said, leading him out to the door.
“Hey, that’s not true. You’re the one asking for it,” he said, smiling at me. We stopped by the door. “Don’t forget about the ball that I mentioned to you on the phone.” He said, patting my head.
“I know… I have decided. I’ll come to the ball.” I told him. Dad then flashed me his megawatt smile. “That’s my girl. I am going to tell Nolan about this.” He said.
“No, dad! Please don’t. I am not going with him to the event.” His eyes went wide in shock, and he looked like he was about to hit me anytime soon. “You know the invitation is for two people, right? If it’s not him, then who are you coming with?” he asked me. I smiled assuringly at him.
“When the time comes, you’ll know, dad,” I said, tapping his shoulder.
