‘‘So, you’re casually dating my son, huh?’’ Mrs. Gonzales asked me as soon as Easton stood up and went to talk to someone at the table beside us. Her gaze fell on the necklace I was wearing and I don’t know why there was a glint of happiness in her eyes.
‘‘Yes…’’ I answered softly. ‘‘I don’t think Easton is ready for another serious relationship yet, and neither am I…’’
That was the only thing that came to me as the most appropriate response to provide her with… so that she wouldn't become suspicious of anything else. I hated having to lie.
