Saturday 6th, One Week Earlier
Joe bustled round the bedroom pulling together his golfing clothes.
Normally Caroline was annoyed about not seeing him on Saturdays. To make things worse, golf had begun to infiltrate most of Sunday and sometimes, weekday evenings as well. She had tried to deal with it by taking up tennis and joining a gym. Combined with her occasional client dinners and the odd nights she had to stay away for work, it meant she was often out more than Joe, but she rationalised that he’d started it.
This morning though it worked out nicely. Mary was coming for lunch and with Joe out of the way they could talk, free of inhibition.
