Chapter Six Sunday; Evening The table was finally set. The meal was ready. Caroline had dressed simply in a wraparound skirt, some restrained heels and a silky shirt which showed maybe a little too much cleavage. Nothing over the top but a clear message nonetheless. As she poured the drinks, Joe bustled in from his third golf game of the weekend. She caught his look of confusion at her rather formal attire. “You forgot we were doing the romantic dinner thing, didn’t you?” she asked gently. Joe bent his head in contrition. “I did, yes. Sorry babe.” Caroline marvelled at his lack of guile and his ability to accept responsibility for a mistake without becoming defensive. “No harm done sweetie.
