Chapter Ten Sunday, Later When Joe left for the golf club around mid-morning he looked a little tired, although the cheery song he was mangling as he packed the car suggested he felt pretty good about it. Caroline watched him from the lounge window and as he went to roll the car back down the driveway he glanced up and saw her. He crossed his eyes, gurning and waving. She blew him a kiss which he caught and placed in his breast pocket, over his heart. Caroline went upstairs to the small bedroom which served as a study. She opened a rucksack she used to carry files and various sundries to and from work and pulled out the list of ‘performances’ she had mapped out.
