After a long night of partying with her three favorite hench women Sascha awoke to the nagging buzz of her phone vibrating on her silky soft pillow. Very slowly she cracked open one eye to peer at the name flashing on the screen.
Great it’s Jasper she sighed, rolling her eyes. Definitely not the first person Sascha wanted to speak to after waking up from such a great night on the town. Her first thought was just to ignore it, but that proved to be unsuccessful when to her dismay the annoying buzzing continued. Growing irritated, Sascha snatched the phone from her pillow and slid the call open.
“Yes, Jasper,” she snarled into the phone, pinching the bridge of her nose in frustration.
Jasper’s voice crackled over the line, “Well I hope you’re happy! Now you’ve really gone and done it!”
“I sincerely haven’t the foggiest what you are talking about Jasper,” she purred innocently.
“Two bodies Sascha, two bodies. Geez, and completely drained. We’ve talked about this before. If I’ve said it once, then I’ve said it a thousand times. Make sure you clean up after yourself,” Jasper screamed.
“Okay, that’s uncalled for. I paid Igor to take care of any messes. If he didn’t dump them in a river or something more responsible than short his wire transfer by twenty five thousand,” Sascha snickered back.
Sascha wasn’t just mad she was furious, on top of Michael ruining her deal, and being forced to walk this lifetime without Dimitri, now she was going to have the elders breathing down her neck and p*ssed. Something didn’t feel right though Igor would never be that sloppy, and Viktor wouldn’t either. He definitely would have paid someone else off to deal with the mess if it wasn’t handled properly. It didn’t add up at all.
“How do you even know they were mine?” Sascha questioned.
Silence
“Jasper do not make me repeat myself,” she hissed, “how do you even know it was me?”
Jasper stammered, “I...well...I...I didn’t ask.” Jasper panicked. He knew Sascha was beyond pissed. If it turns out it wasn’t her, well who knows what will happen. She doesn’t play by any rules and I hate to know what happened to the guy who had this job before.
“You better call Viktor and Igor and find out what happened, immediately,” Sascha growled aggressively.
On the other side of the line Jasper gulped, he knew there would be more coming. He waited nervously; nearly holding his breath.
“Oh and Jasper,” Sascha’s voice rang out like clockwork, “If they aren’t mine, you can bring Lestat an apology dinner. You better hope he finds whatever you bring more appetizing than you.”
With that Sascha hung up the phone and stomped off to the bathroom to get ready for the day. Either way she would be tasked with meeting the elders about this so she may as well get it over with.
In the bathroom as Sascha went about readying herself for the day she lamented in the fact that someone somewhere might be trying to set her up, and on purpose too. What’s the angle though, exactly what would they have to gain?
“Hmmm,” she mused lost in her thoughts, “this could get interesting.”
“Ah well at any rate I better check on Vlad,” Sascha plotted to herself.
She flicked through her phone and found Vlad’s contact. She dialed on speaker while simultaneously powdering her face. Vlad picked up after the first ring. That’s one thing she likes about Vlad. He’s always been reliable.
“Sascha, darling,” Vlad boomed loudly through the speaker, “I was just going over a game plan with some of my…little helpers shall we say.”
“Excellent Vlad, you always know what I like to hear,” Sascha crooned, “so tell me what is the plan Vlad and when can I expect it be…completed?”
“Don’t you worry yourself with the detail Sasch, you’ll hear all about it on the news here soon I’m sure,” Vlad replied coolly.
“Well then, it will look like an accident correct? Something that wouldn’t have passed the code inspection I presume,” she questioned in return.
“Ah well my dear something of that complexity… that is to say to make it like an…ah…accident, I’m afraid it just entails a little more work,” Vlad revealed like a vulture sinking its claws into it’s prey.
“Name your price you silly fool, you know I’ll pay extra. Is ten thousand enough?” Sascha asked impatiently.
“Why yes, I think that will cover it just fine,” Vlad said with satisfaction dripping in his voice.
“You drive a hard bargain Vlad,” Sascha said mildly annoyed, “I will make it an extra fifteen thousand to ensure it’s a job well done, cut and dry with no need for further investigation. Such a tragedy for those unable to make it out safely in time.”
“Whatever you say sweetheart, you're the boss,” he replied, “ we’ll talk soon.” And with that he hung up the phone and the line went dead.
