Michael left shortly after dinner; my parents had invited him when he was dropping me off by the door. My dad talked to him and asked him about his intentions with me, so he gave us a pep talk about working on our relationship if we wanted it to really work. It was a good night after all.  I went back to my room after helping my mom clean up after dinner. I checked my email with no luck. I logged on to linkedin.com hoping I would find something before calling it a night. There was a place that caught my eye. An architecture company was looking for receptionists, I decided to send in my resume. I was really tired, so I promised myself I would continue searching in the morning.    It had been a few days since I had heard from any of the job sites I had applied for and today was the day I had my interview for Platinum Industry. It was that architecture company I had applied for a couple of days ago. I did I phone interview yesterday and today I had a one-on-one interview. I was so excited. I haven’t told my parents yet, I don’t want to disappoint them just in case I don’t get the job.  I woke up extra early this morning to make sure the clothes I had picked out the night before were the ones I really wanted to wear. I took a quick body shower and did the rest of my morning routine. I did my makeup, something really light, natural looking, nothing too heavy. A little bit of eye liner, mascara to make my lashes look longer. Some blush and just chap stick since I was sure I was going to be wearing my mask during the interview. I brushed my hair to the side into a bun. I walked into my room in my robe looking over my clothes again. My interview was in two hours. I had decided on a black pencil skirt with a white loose blouse that would be covered by a black blazer. It was kind of hot outside, so I decided to take my flip flops with me and then change into my black heels once I pulled up to the job site. I couldn’t wait, I was so excited. My mom asked me where I was going, and I felt bad lying to her, but I didn’t want to get her hopes up that I may be getting a job today.  “I am going to be job hunting for about an hour mama, wish me luck!” I called out as I was closing the door behind me. I had everything I needed, my purse, my face mask, my shoes, I put on the address to Platinum Industry to pull out of the driveway. I made a quick stop to Starbucks for some coffee and a coffee cake. I had rushed out of home that I didn’t have any breakfast.  Once I pulled up to the office, I took off my flip flops and put on my black heels. I got out of my car and put on my mask, made sure my skirt was not up too high, I looked good. I walked into the big building praying that I would get the job. I go up to the third floor where I was going to meet up with Merida. I wait for the elevator to get to the third floor as it had stopped on the second floor. A man walked in, even though he was wearing his mask, he seemed handsome. He smiled at me and said hi, I said hi too and looked down at my phone. The doors opened once we got to the third floor and to my surprise, he got off too.  “Are you looking for someone in particular?” the man asked me. I was looking around to see if I could spot the receptionist or a secretary. “Umm, yes. I’m here for an interview with Merida.” I replied, he smiled at me again. “You can take a seat there,” he pointed at the lobby where there were comfortable chairs. “I can let her know you are here, what’s your name?” He asked. I looked at him confused before I realized he needed it in order to let Merida know I was here. “Diana,” I smiled, “my name is Diana Ghulam.”  “Well, nice to meet you Diana, I’m Spencer.” He said to me as he began walking away from me. He looked like he was good looking, regardless of the face mask covering half of his face. I sat there while I waited for Spenser to come back or for Merida to meet me. I was getting impatient, but I kept looking forward to seeing if there was any sign of Merida or Spenser. I looked at my watch, and I was there 10 minutes early. I didn’t have this appointment until one.  “Hello Diana, I’m Merida.” I heard as I was looking through my purse for my phone. ‘f**k!’ I thought.  “Hi Merida,” I said as I stood to shake her hand.  “My office is this way,” she smiled at me and motioned me to follow her. I couldn’t hide that I was excited, but I knew I had to keep my composure. I am sure that there are more candidates that have been coming in for an interview.    The interview took about twenty minutes. Although I was excited, I was a little nervous. Merida told me she would call me in a couple of days, but I had a feeling I wasn’t going to get it. I was surprised when she called me a few days later asking me if I could start soon. I start tomorrow! I am the new receptionist at Platinum Industry. I couldn’t wait to tell my parents that day after dinner, and Michael seemed to be happy for me as well.  I couldn’t wait to start, I made sure I picked out my clothes for my first day at work. I had a dark gray pencil skirt with a white lace top that would be topped off with a matching dark grey blazer. I decided on some black heels, I would have my hair on a low pony tail. I couldn’t wait to start my first day at a new company. I was nervous though, this meant I had to start all over again somewhere new. Meet new people, learn new skills, make new friends. I made up my mind to make the best out of it all. I finally had a new job, and I should be thankful that God blessed me with it during these hard times.  I also made sure I told my parents that I was starting my new job tomorrow. My dad seemed pleased, and my mom was happy for me. She knew how upset I was just being at home with nothing to do. Although Michael happy for me about my new job, he was kind of bummed out that I wouldn’t be spending a lot of time with him. His parents were pretty well off, and he didn’t have to worry about money like others. I, on the other hand, liked making my own money. I liked paying for my own things and not having to ask others to buy me whatever I needed or wanted.  I was looking forward for tomorrow. I couldn’t wait to be a part of something new. I had a really good feeling about this job, I felt as if I could have the opportunity to grow within the business. I can’t wait what the future has set up for me.
