Chapter two

I was about to go downstairs…

“This way”

Grandfather led me to the dark hallway. He whispered something and one of those light bubbles came from his wand to float above us. At the end of the long corridor there was a gate, no door and two crystals placed together on the floor.

Grandfather whispered again, pointed the wand at the crystals and I could see a wall made of something like water, they separated, and the entrance was free for us to come in.

“Is the same magic that protects the hallways outside, only our bloodline can move them, not even their mates”

I find the word “mate” a bit strange.

He placed the crystals back to close the gate and hugged me with one arm, started circling his wand in front of us. I couldn´t hear anything, it was like being under water, floating so peaceful. Suddenly I could see the park where I was found, it was outside the haze. We landed softly on the ground as our arms and hair went slowly down and the haze vanished.

None of us said a word, we waked to my apartment, I took the phone and called my mom.

“Hello. Mom?”

“Hello. Who is this?”

“It’s me, Galia. Sorry I haven´t called you for two days, there was a…”

“I´m sorry” she interrupted me “Wrong call”. And hanged.

That was so strange. I got nervous. Ran to the street, took a cab and rushed to my parents’ house.

I rang the doorbell; my heart was beating so fast. My mom opened the door.

“Hello mom” I said hesitantly “how are you?”

“I´m sorry, do I know you?” She was staring at a total stranger.

“I… I´m sorry, wrong address…”

I took several steps back as she closed the door. Her words broke my heart and my soul into thousands of pieces. My breath was heavy, felt on my knees. Grandfather was there. He tried to comfort me, but I cried “this is all your fault! A burst of energy came out from my hands and threw grandfather against the ground. He tried to stop it with his wand, luckily he was fast, I think I would´ve killed him.

“NO!” I ran to his aid “Grandpa? Are you OK?!” A tear rolled on his old cheek “Oh! I´m so sorry! Promise will learn how to control myself”

“I´m just happy to hear you calling me grandpa. You don´t know how much I did to find you. You and Asaf are all my world”

“Please grandpa, stand up, let´s go back to the castle and get help”

“I´m too weak, can´t make the spell to take us back”

“I´ll do it! Just tell me how”

“Is too dangerous and you are too young to pull it up”

“Your nose! You are bleeding! I can do it, I must, please. Just lend me your wand”

“It won´t work with you, even if you are my granddaughter… Let’s try without it. Hug me and move your hand in circles, think of nothing but water and air… feel it… now close your eyes end repeat visualizing the place you want to reach…”

I did as he said, “let me be taken to the place my heart yearns” and visualized my room at the castle. My nails went bright blue, the haze came hesitantly and surrounded us, I opened my eyes and saw my room outside. As soon as the haze left, we were violently expelled at opposite sides. People came running asking what happened, neither could talk. Grandpa! I kept crying. They took him away to be healed and grandma fallowed him telling me everything would be fine, she looked so worried. The queen and Kiryat helped me, and I cried myself to sleep. So much to handle…

I woke up in the morning. The prince, my cousin, was there. “Hello, finally you wake up. I was instructed to take care of you and take you to the dining room to have breakfast”

“How´s grandpa?!”

“He´s fine. Quite a beating he got from you…”

“It was an accident” I don´t think I like this kid…

“Yeah, that was clumsy”

Seriously? So childish, really don´t like him. Is my grandpa he´s talking about! And it wasn´t my fault, two days ago my biggest ability was to walk and chew gum at the same time…

“Get ready, I’ll wait outside” He´s supposed to be ten years my senior but acts like a brat.

I took a fast bath, put on some clean clothes from the wardrobe and exited the room. Yesterday all dresses were white. Today they are green and golden, odd…

The bathtub always had clean warm water in it but no pipes… odd…

“You could´ve stayed a little longer, I’m not hungry or busy at all!” He´s also sarcastic, lovely… My fingers started tingling and my nails were turning bright blue again. Took deep breaths before killing him and fallowed him.

“Can you hurry?”

He wants to die today…

We went downstairs and to the family dining room. It was big enough for about forty people. Very beautiful. I saw my grandparents siting by the table and ran to them yelling “good morning everyone!”.

“Are you OK grandpa? Is he OK grandma? I am so, so sorry!” My grandma grabbed my hands and took a look at me, tears coming from their eyes.

“You look so beautiful… We are so happy to have you back”

The memory of my parents came to my mind and tears rolled down my cheeks.

“Will my parents ever remember me again?”

“It´s hard to say. We think not but we don´t have all the answers”

“If there´s a way, I’ll figure it out”

“We need to get you a wand soon. Your nails are crystalizing, and you are quite a hazard” said Antioco smiling. I looked down at my nails and they looked so polished, like transparent plastic. “It happens when you don´t use your wand, magic is too raw and hard to control without it”

We had breakfast. Boy this people like to eat meat! I am almost a vegan, hate to kill animals. Only eat meat if there’s no other choice. Didn’t want to be rude so I took a bit of ham and LOTS of potatoes and fruit.

Outside the room was Holger, waiting to take me everywhere. After the great war, elves and wizards made pacts. Now the children of the royal elves will be trained their first years here at the center and we allow an elf legion to stay around. We benefit from their protection too, win-win situation. And now I have a gorgeous warrior/guardian.

I was warned to say I was a distant cousin who came to the training center and that I lived in another land, no more details. Outside the private rooms I had to call my grandparents lady Asaf and lord Antinoo. It would be like that until my abilities came to an ease. Very odd…
