Ellie’s POV. My eyes were shut and nostrils flared in annoyance. I bit my nails, an old habit that came out whenever I was in distress. I walked back and forth the room, placing a hand on my waist, the other pressed against my forehead. I kept going over everything in my mind, hoping Mom would finally listen. I thought I could talk her into backing out of the marriage agreement with the Tans. After all, I had told her how Asher had hurt me, controlled me, how he wasn’t the man she thought he was. But she had already decided to push through with the marriage. It seemed like there was no other way to get her to change her mind, not even Dad could do it. It was like talking to a wall.
