He approached the gate with exaggerated care, fumbling with the catch beneath the spotlight of her gaze. The driver remained in the vehicle, his head down as he studied something out of view. As Bodie closed the gate behind him, the noisy diesel engine ceased its rumbling. Bodie offered a feckless wave as he navigated the gravel drive.
