BitlessBefore Bodie left, Hana broached the subject of telling Izzie about Vik’s infidelity. She lowered her voice in the echoing hallway as he laced up his shoes. Joyful sounds issued from behind the closed kitchen door as the children helped Leslie wash the rongoā equipment.
Bodie’s negative reaction dispelled any notion of easing her daughter’s pain and extracting herself from beneath Caroline’s blackmail. “Hell no, Mum!” His brown eyes widened in horror and he seized her shoulders and administered a gentle shake. “Why would you do that after all this time? Please, don’t! She doesn’t need to know what he did. Promise me you’ll never tell her. It messed me up, but it would destroy her. She adored Dad.”
