“Trying to kill me will get you nowhere,” Nate gloated.
“Let go of him, Kieran. Kill him, don’t kill him. Nothing changes the fact that he is staying.” It was Jasper; he was the reason Nate could gloat despite my hand firmly strangling his neck.
My grip on Nate’s shirt didn’t loosen, even after hearing my father’s words; if anything, it only tightened, fueled by my growing aggravation. Nate had been sent by my father as a spy, and this morning, before we left the house, he let it slip that the entire story about being attacked and robbed was complete bullshit, just as I’d suspected.
