I have her in my arms, and I’m never letting go. God, I sound like a damn softie. What the hell is wrong with me? Even though I’m relieved—grateful—that we found them alive and mostly untouched, part of me is still seething. All I can think about is what I’m going to do to Ivan when we get him back to the warehouse. But first—I need eyes on him. I need to see him, to know this is truly over. As we walk back to Monty’s side of the warehouse, I spot the Metro team we sent after him. From where I’m standing, I want to shoot them all. Their faces say it before their mouths do. “They didn’t get him?” GreenLee whispers. It’s more to herself than anyone else. She knows this isn’t over. And I hate that I failed her. I stop and turn her toward me, lifting her chin so she’s looking into my eyes.
