Liam’s voice was ice over the line. “Club. Now. Make her disappear.” I didn’t ask questions. I never did. That’s how I stayed alive. But when I walked into the back room and saw her—curled up on the stained couch, blood on her lip, defiance in her eyes—I knew this wasn’t just another cleanup. She looked up at me, didn’t flinch. “You here to finish it?” she asked, voice hoarse but steady. I crouched beside her, opened my kit. “No. I’m here to make you vanish.” She snorted. “Same thing.” I paused. “Not the way he means.” Her eyes narrowed. “Why should I trust you?” I pulled a cloth from the bag, dabbed at the cut on her cheek. “Because I know who your father is. And I know what happens when a Vulture goes missing.” That got her attention. She sat up straighter. “You know my dad?”
