THE NEXT MORNING, Parker awakens, humming “No More Cloudy Days” by the Eagles. His only thought is Julie, the feel of her body next to his, the lingering kiss. Over and over, he plays out the moments in Taylor’s backyard, and he wants more. … More time, more intimacy.
What should he do for dinner? Take her to the Officers’ Club or fix something for her to eat at the house? He decides on the latter, even though he only knows how to barbecue. Up and about, he checks the grill at the back of the house. Because a gas line hooks up to it, he only needs to buy steaks and the makings for a salad.
Parker notices the time and jumps in the shower. He can’t arrive late for the morning meeting with the team. His driver sits waiting for him when he walks out the front door.
