8 After how encouraging and supportive Valentina was at book club, I decided to stop into Cove Bakery on my way to work Tuesday. I heard amazing things about her talents for months, but I was too afraid to go in and see her. But I wanted some sugar, and Cove Bakery was too tempting to keep resisting. The pink and white striped awning was welcoming and joyful before I even stepped inside. When I did, the place was busy but not packed and only a few people looked up at me, smiling before returning to their treats and conversation. “Welcome to Cove Bakery,” the woman behind the counter said. “How are you today?” “I’m good, thank you,” I told her. “How are you?” She chuckled. “Can’t complain when I get to talk to people and enjoy the fruits of Valentina’s labor.” “I can understand that.
