15 | Dark Times

AURORA'S POV

"You blew up four fully armor SUV ...." my mother and was lost at words. She can't finish her thoughts at all.

I sat in the middle of the room while my parents, siblings, and Thea looking at me. "Not fully armor as you all claim if I manage to find it's weak spot." I joked but none of them laughed with me.

I cleared my throat and get my serious face on. But I can't help it but laugh at how they acted. "Come on. It's just four cars. No big deal." My mother sighed. "Aurora, you promised you won't do this again." My mother said.

"But Honey, that was badass! Even I can't blow up four cars." My father was supportive.

We high five each other but soon received another glare from my mother. "Glen your not helping! Come back here." Father obliged. "Thea say something." Looks like my mother has given up on advising me.

Thea stood in front of me with her expressionless face. "I don't know what to say. I am speechless. When I saw you laughing at the blazing car I finally thought you lost it. What's so funny? I asked myself. Then I find Maya inside the car, shaking to her bones. But I'm glad your both safe."

I listened to Thea's explanation. "I am ... appalled." She finished.

"Sis, What goes inside your mind when you killed them?" Octavius being his usual self.

"What's going through my mind? All I care is to protect my friend ... also the probability of getting shot at. I love the feeling on the verge of death."

Aura suddenly appeared in front of me and stared into my orbs. "Yup. She finally lost it. She's back. The old Aurora has been triggered." I laughed.

"What's wrong with you all? Aren't you happy I'm happy? Can we just forget what I had done and move on with our life?" Harriet shakes her head.

"No bloody way. The last time we did you cause this on yourself!" She forcefully pulled up my school jacket and showed everyone my old scar. "It's just an accident. Who would've thought flamethrower could harm the one who used them." I pushed my sleeve back.

"Mother we can't let Aurora be her old self again. It's too dangerous. God knows how many lives will be in danger now that we know Charlotte Primus is alive. She won't let anyone go easily." Harriet finished.

Mother turned to her husband. "Of many traits, she inherits from your family, why does she have to inherit your uncle's bloodlust and your gambling addiction?" Father gave my mother a toothy smile.

"So what? Another electrical shock therapy will suffice right?" Octavius suggested.

"No way. No electric shock therapy what so ever." Thea argues. "There's no way in hell I want to witness my girlfriend being shocked to death! THATS FINAL!" Thea forbid Octavius from saying anything.

"I am aware of your hatred toward your own twin sister but I will not let you or the rest of the family doing that dreadful therapy ever again! Not on my watch." Thea was overly protective of me.

Octavius scoffed. "Dykes." I didn't get to hold Thea down when she grabbed Octavius by the collar and threw him across the room.

"I am allergic to that word you bitch." She glared at my mother. "Why do you even gave birth to that imbecile in the first place. I blame you for creating that monstrosity and made him as Aurora's twin." He faces my father with hatred visible on her face.

"Hey! Stop that! Thea apologized to my parents!" I stood up from my seat.

"I'm sorry for my outburst." By now my parents probably used to it's it. "It's fine. It's Octavius fault for being a dick." Aura said. My parents sighed. "What should we do now? We can't let Aurora let loose." Aura added.

"Look, I'm sure this urges I have now will be gone after a good game of poker. Shall we have a bet? 20 million should be enough." I smirked.

"I'm in!" I smiled at my father. "Let's increase the bet... 40 million. Any takers? It's not fun if Aurora and I the only player."

"GLEN!" Mother warned him.

"No,!wait for mommy. Maybe this is what she needs. Remember Vegas? She's back being the poise Aurora after a game of poker with daddy's friends. This is the ticket to normal town." Harriet actually has my back on this one.

"40 million it is!" Gordon, her husband was in.

"I didn't say you should bet!" Harriet burst. "Too late hun." Gordon laughed together with me and father. All three of us face Aura. "Princess, come on. Bet you money." This man I called my father is one smooth talker.

Aura sighed. "40? Fine. I just sold some of my painting anyway. I have money to burn." I face my girlfriend. "Thea, honey. Come on. Join us." I pout. She sighed. "Fine." She says no with my pouty face.

"What is wrong with you all? Gambling is bad. Hezner you better stay where you are!" Mommy burst. Hezner sighed. "But ... I need the money for my new project. For Humanity." Hezner joining us.

"It settles then. 240 million will be on the line here. Who will win it all?" I can see their greediness is on the lose. Even Thea who hates to gamble had her game face on. I'm sorry guys but, I, Aurora Heroux will win that money.

You can count on that.

"Good game my brothers and sisters.. of course, my love and Daddy," I announced when I manage to clean their pockets dry. "You need a lot to learn about gambling. And Daddy, wow.. you're getting rusty there. I mean, you owe me 10 million in debt." I laughed at him.

"Well, at least your back, Lady Aurora." I face Thea. She's right. The urges to kill is gone. I feel.. at peace.

"Thank you for your contribution." I was happy to have their money in my hands. "Are you truly the poise Aurora we all know and love?" Harriet making sure. "Yes, I'm Aurora. Do we have a problem?" Harriet took a step back.

"Seems like your back." I smiled while filling my pockets with the money. It sounds impossible but the adrenaline from gambling just gave me a wake-up call. I love this game so much!

"Lady Aurora. You have a visitor." I heard Ruby said behind me.

"Who is it, Ruby?" Thea asked. "Sir Hector." Huh, Hector. "Lead him to the sunroom outside. I'll be there soon." I said while counting the dough. Ruby bow and did as told.

"Your meeting that bastard? Want me to accompany you?" I shake my head. "Don't worry Thea. I can manage." I winked.

"Don't kill." Mother warned me. I chuckled and waved at my family and girlfriend.

"Here Thea. Take care of the money I won." I smiled and handed my jacket to her before walking towards the sunroom. "What is it, Hector?" I greeted him when I arrived.

"Good evening, Aurora." He was offering his hand. "Don't be too friendly. What is it that you seek to come to my home?" Hector smiled.

"I heard what happened to you earlier today. I'm just being a good fiancée and checking up on you. Is that wrong?" I was taken aback.

"Fiancée? I thought I made it clear that I am NOT your fiancée. Never was, never will." Hector took the liberty to take a seat.

"Are you sure about that?" He suddenly showed me a series of picture of my twin brother. "I mean if your not that's mean I have no obligation to keep this on my hold." Huh? He ushered me to look at it. I was shocked when a picture of Octavius being hold up came to view.

"He must hate his sister for being an unreliable Scion. Am I right?" Does he have the audacity to threaten me? "Is this your plan to trap me?" He shrugged. "I'm sure giving this pictures and the rest of the findings I found to the press will make you very popular, honey buns."

"Other pictures?" I asked.

"Of course, Aura's nightlife, Harriet's meeting with the secret council member, Gordon's 'business' with all the ladies from Madame's club and of course Hezner's secret laboratory where he was seen leading a bunch of kids into. It's all conspiracy." Hmmm, seems like he's been spying on us.

"Are you trying to pick a fight with me, little man?" Hector smiled. "Of course not. I will never do that to my future bride." I lean in.

"What do you want to accomplished by marrying me?" I tilted my head. "Oh, nothing much. As long as you giving me half of your wealth in the will, I'll be okay." I sighed.

Why can't there be any decent elite guys out there? Why do they always want more than they can bargain?

"If it's money you seek I can easily give it to you." I leaned back.

"You don't understand, Lady Aurora. I want a lifetime supply of dough. Marrying you is a ticket to heaven on Earth, to an endless wealth. Being associated with the royal family made you and the rest of your family living in wealth for more generation to come."

He stood up.

"I came from a small nobility family that almost no one knew off. My parents were always the last to be invited to the royal social gathering or in any gathering, to be honest. I want to change that. I want to be known throughout Esnaria and even the world if I can. And you can help me."

More selfish reason for marrying me. At least lied and say you love me you bastard!

"So, you only using those pictures to threatened me?" He smiled. "A picture speaks a thousand words, am I right?" He's confident. I admire that in a man but his stupidity showing.

"You see Hector, I'm in love with my girlfriend because there's something even guys lack upon them." He listened to me.

"What does she have that I don't?" He asked.

"Well for starter she's not afraid to protect me from all the people who wanted me dead," Hector smirked.

"I can do that as well. I am a man." I noticed a shadow not far from us. "And she never listens to me when I say she doesn't have to follow me." I looked behind Hector and saw Thea aiming her HK-416 gun at him.

Hector seems confused.

"She's always packing in heat." I pointed at Thea who's now made herself visible while still aiming her gun at him.

You move you die." She said with hatred.

"What should I do about you, Thea." Her eyes never leave her target when she threw me an assault rifle.

"Whoa whoa whoa! I'm not even armed." Hector raised both hands while looking at Thea and me back and forth.

"I really hate someone who waltzes in my home and threatened me. You should know better." I walked towards him and place the tip of the gun on his chest.

"You don't know who I am. It was a mistake to cause trouble in my territory. I'm not afraid to pull this trigger and stained my carpet with your blood. Not at all. But I won't. If I do, my mom will kill me, for real." I removed the gun from his chest and smiled.

"You can try to spread those picture to the public but I have to warn you, my siblings, they have their own protection from people like you. They probably not very forgiving like I am." He scoffed.

"Get out before I let Thea pull the trigger." He ignores the pictures on the table and literally ran away from us.

"Is it wise to let him go? I could just kill him right here, right now. I even took the liberty to bring some grenade." Thea scoffed.

I smiled while putting her gun down. I leaned into her ears.

"I'd catch a grenade for you,

Throw my hand on a blade for you,

I'd jump in front of a train for you,

You know I'd do anything for you."

She froze when I nibble on her ears.

I chuckled when she sighed.

"Fine, totally will do the same, babe." She whispered.

I decided to have a swim inside the indoor swimming pool to relax my mind and body.

"Hmm. Aurora alone and naked in the pool, something must be going on inside her brain."

I lifted my head and saw my twin brother walking in only in his shorts.

"Come and join my brother. Don't be shy, you've seen me naked far too many times now."

He scoffed but did as told.

"What do you want from me?" He asked while floating away like I am.

"A bird told me that your basically a human punching bag at school. Is it true?" I asked directly. "What makes you think I am?" His voice changed, slightly. "Because a bird told me. Is it true, Octavius?" I turned my head towards him.

"You can tell me anything Octavius. We're twins. I can help you. What's the point of being a Scion if I can't even help my own brother." He chuckled. "Isn't it enough your girlfriend treated me like I am her own punching bag?" He asked.

"You know why she did it. You were being rude to me earlier. I know I usually don't tell you this but it hurts when my own brother suggested the electric chair to cure me. It hurt Octavius." He sighed.

"I'm sorry. I know I was out of bounce with my words. I truly regret it." I smiled. "It's fine brother. Now, tell me the truth. What's going on with you in school."

He began to explain to me about the group of people who targeted him since he started his senior year.

"So Hector, the so call president didn't do anything about it even after you plead him to do so?" Octavius shakes his head. "He told me to be a man. When I know mom and dad were actually thinking of marrying you off with him I got mad! I am so mad."

So he ignored my brother's plea because I don't want to be his bride huh? What a joke!

"The real question now is do you want me to do something about it? Or you prefer to do it your way? Either way, I'm okay with it. Your a Heroux, Octavius. Don't let them walk all over you." He chuckled.

"What? So I should be the Aurora who gamble her own life and shooting four heavily armor SUV in the streets?"

I laughed.

"No... of course not. Be Octavius, the guy who swoon every single woman he saw with his Violin. Be the Octavius who's not afraid to use his power on people. Come on brother be a man for a change." He genuinely laughing with me.

"Oh yes, you should go to my match. I was chosen to be the first string player. You and the rest of our family should come and watch me play." Hold the f**k up! Did he just invited me to his basketball tournament?!

I can't believe this. I truly am appalled.

"Oh stop with the staring. Yes, I invited you. You can bring your presidents and soeur as well. Even Princess Braylin and Ariel. I don't mind." He actually smiles when I looked at him.

"So does this mean you want me to handle the group of people harassing you?" He slowly nodded while diving in the pool.

When he emerged from the water, he was next to me, staring at me with his sad eyes. "If you please do, I am in your debt sister." Whoa! This is such a sight! I never saw him begged before. This is new to me.

"Hold on! Is this your way of showing my friends off?" He froze.

"Well, you can say that's part of the plan. Please, sis. I've been telling my friends how much of a ladies man I am. Be a doll and help your brother will yah. Besides, some of the guys even have a fan club made just for you and your soeur. I can't blame them, your soeur is one hell of a woman. Not you though, You're ugly."

Ugh, I wish I could strangle him.

"Says you but for the rest of the guys in your school, I am a goddess." I smiled before I went to the edge of the pool and pulled myself up. I grabbed the robe Ruby had prepared earlier and wrapped my wet body with it.

"Your staying?" He nodded before taking a dive in again. I left him alone and went to my room. I was just about to wash myself off when I heard my phone ringing.

"Thea? What's wrong?" I asked.

"We have a big problem." She sounds restless.

"Talk to me."

"Someone from the hospital leaked the information about Maya. Lord Blyton is on the move. I repeat, LORD BLYTON IS ON THE MOVE!" Thea literally yelling the last part.

"What?! Did he sent those SUV to us?"

"Yes. You need to be careful. Hell, Maya need to be under protection 24/7! This is an emergency. Lord Blyton will not rest until she's dead!" I heard a loud siren sound in the background.

"Where are you?" I asked.

"I'm coming to you. I'll explain everything later. Love you." She hangs up on me.

So that man decided to make a move and even took the risk of nearly killing me huh. He has balls, I give him that. Did he really think that I will not be prepared for this type of things?

He really thought I would let him walk all over me?

I dialed in Braylin's private number and explained to her what's going on. There's no way I'm doing nothing to help Maya. I will never let it go if she's hurt because of this.

I won't let she gone through such experience ever again.
