Chapter 3
Tears streaked my cheeks as I ran for the phone and pushed 911. The attendant on the other side waited patiently while I explained. She told me to relax and take a breath. My limbs went into an uncontrollable shake, and I didn’t know what to do. Get a hold of yourself, Chloe. I gulped down several breaths to calm down. I told her about his medical history, how he wasn’t breathing, and that I didn’t know how long he’d been knocked out. She said to try and shake him gently to consciousness while we waited for an ambulance.
I threw the phone in the corner and sat with his head on my lap. Why the hell couldn’t I remember that CPR class I took in high school? I shook him a few times as the emergency operator instructed, but he made no response. The ambulance siren wailed in the dist
