Chapter 4
My heart skipped a beat as sandalwood and lust floated in the air. He was two inches from my face and hadn’t kissed me yet. I wanted him to. Badly.
“What are you saying?” I whispered.
The space between us was dangerous. Jake was a powerful man and there was no doubt in my mind that once I agreed to his contract, he’d own me like an asset. I didn’t care. It would be temporary and it was now life or death. Everything in me wanted to run and hide from the monster who was about to devour my cookies.
His hot breaths tickled my nose and created a whirlwind of passion within me.
“I could eat you alive,” he remarked.
I fought the urge to smile as his nostrils pressed into my hair. “I can see that, Jake.”
