Two days passed without a single text from Jake. Either he was busy, or we were finished as soon as we’d begun. Was he avoiding me? Just because I said we wouldn’t marry didn’t mean we should be strangers. One week turned into two. I diverted my attention from Jake by looking for a job. No one would hire a monstrous pregnant lady, so I needed to find a job while my belly didn’t show yet. I applied for every position I qualified for, but no one called. Dad opposed the idea. What did he want me to do? He scared the baby’s father away and now I couldn’t work either? I couldn’t sit and tweeze hairs all day and I refused to become depressed thinking about why Jake hadn’t called. Besides that, I’d need a boatload of money now that I was a single mom. Thanks Dad. He must’ve sensed the despair
