Chapter SeventeenTheir nonstop flight to the emerald coast of Florida went smoothly. Jake called Ralph with their arrival time, so he could pick them up.
Ralph arrived at the airport in Jake's Dodge pickup. Within a short time, they were loaded and on their way to Seagrove. When they arrived home, Jake lifted Kate from the front seat, grabbed some of her luggage, and walked into the house. Ralph brought the rest of suitcases from the bed of the truck into the antebellum mansion.
He asked, “Where would you like these placed?”
“Upstairs in my bedroom if you don't mind,” Kate answered.
Jake and Ralph climbed the stairs while carrying the oversized cases and placed them in her bedroom. While descending the stairs afterward Ralph said, “Meet you at the pickup truck.”
