The Beginning (7), Interlude (2)

Flashback.

"What is your star sign again?" Li Jing whispers to Wang Xiu Ying.

"Libra."

"What is his star sign?" Li Jing asks again, just as an angry Lu Chen stomps out of the principal's office, ignoring the calls of the principal.

Li Jing guessed he was some super elite student because, home training and circumstance would never make her act like that to an adult no matter how angry she was.

Wang Xiu Ying goes into tutor mode. "Lu Chen is an Aries, which means his elemental power is red fire or active fire. Ye Bao– that is the red haired vibrant boy– is a Taurus which means his elemental power is Earth, but he mostly melds glass and can only meld metal or stone when angry. So don't anger him. He may seem exuberant but that is just his coping mechanism. "

Li Jing nods, filing that piece of information in her head. "What of the depressed one?"

"Oh Jiao Long is not depressed. It's just ... something happened to him, that's why he's like that."

Not wanting to pry, Li Jing simply nods again as they both make their way through the hallway towards the class.

"His star sign is Gemini which makes his elemental power air. But his own is more of cold air, the kind that gives you cold and catarrh, due to his demeanor."

Li Jing shivers. "Sucks to be him."

"That reminds me." Wang Yuanji says, having been silent all this while. "You should move into the Dormitory with us since you are an elemental. Only elemental students live in the Dormitory."

"But I'm a day student?" Li Jing scoffs as she adds, "and my mother will never agree, she already a control freak."

The twins seem to exchange a meaningful gaze before looking at Li Jing. They both say at the same time, "leave that to us."

Li Jing has no choice but to agree, something about their mannerisms makes her back down. "If you say so."

"By the way, it seems your mother is simply human." Wang Yuanji goes on like a broken record.

"Eh? Any problem?"

"Your power can't be this strong if you are simply a half caste." Wang Xiu Ying says by way of explanation.

"What's your point exactly?" Li Jing is confused. What did they mean about her power being strong. Pfft. She believes that these twins watch too much anime.

"Nevermind." Wang Yuanji seems to have reverted back to her old self as she shoulders past her and makes her way to her bleak and boring class 12B.

Li Jing stares after the departing black haired girl. "Uh uh."

"Come on." Wang Xiu Ying urges her. "We have missed most of the days lesson already."

Flashback over.

Present time.

"Who are you?!" Lu Chen growls menacingly.

"During my days, no one would dare speak to me like this."

"That was not the question oldie. Who are you and what were you doing at a party that was clearly meant for teenagers?" Jiao Long says and cracks his knuckles.

Li Jing could feel her Hackles rising. 'Was the woman there to kill them? Was this what Elementals had to go through regularly?'

"Speak up. We don't have all day." Wang Yuanji butts in this time, crossing her arms across her chest.

A chuckle answers them, and this time it isn't from the old woman. It's from a smirking Ye Bao who was staring at his gold wrist watch. "We don't have all morning my dear."

"Stupid." Wang Yuanji says under her breath.

They were all in a room, the six of them. Hua Jun had gone home because she had a charity event she was to attend with her parents. So Li Jing stayed, purely due to curiosity and partly because she wanted to see Lu Chen in action.

Wang Xiu Ying seems to become frustrated. "Talk old woman!!"

The old woman smiles, a toothless smile and Wang Xiu Ying's eyes seems to loose focus and then she drops to the ground, unconscious.

Li Jing screams and what happens next is something she would have never thought possible.

BACSTORY.

Jiao Long was the last born of three boys.

The first born, Jiao Ling, was an extremely gifted software developer in London.

The second was a pro–footballer for the NFL. Jiao Shen.

And then there was him. The 'oops' baby.

The child that came when his parents were far off into their primes.

He hardly interacted with his siblings and had only Seen Jiao Shen twice in his whole eighteen years of existence.

He could remember when he was nine and found out, albeit the hard way, that he was going to take over Jiao Holdings Inc.

It was a sad day for him. Jiao Long wanted to be a professional ballet dancer and a professional pianist.

But that day, as he rejected his soon to be heritage and tried to make his father see reason, his father back handed him across the face.

Honorable Jiao ordered his men to take young Jiao Long away and Lock him up.

Suffice to say, they beat that ambition out of his soul and head.

But now, he was eighteen and was in his final year of high school.

HIs father wanted him to go to a college abroad to study Medicine or business administration but Jiao Long had his own plans.

Through the years, He had saved up a reasonable amount of money for him to dissappear when the time was right. He was simply bidding his time.

He would go to a prestigious dance school in England and learn how to dance professionally. His father had no influence in England and so he was safe.

He had tried to run away once, in Cheng City but he was already too popular and immediately people saw his face and word spread that he had run from his father's house, they shut their doors and establishments on his face.

No one could risk the wrath of Honorable Jiao.

His mother had tried to protect her last born son when he was much younger but it never worked as her husband never listened to her.

Eventually, she resorted to stress alleviating pills and slinked into her shell and became a shadow of herself.

Jiao Long learned early in life that he was very much a lone soul.
