Restless Soul last episode

Scene 8

Fani and Sintu are at the hospital searching for the ward where their daughter is in.

Fani : "Excuse me. We're looking for our daughter. She was admitted an hour ago."

Receptionist: "What's her name Sir?"

Fani : "Zuzu Mlangeni."

Receptionist: (checks the list) "Please go through to ward 16."

Fani : "Thank you."

They run, and as they approach ward 16 they see a doctor coming out of the ward.

Sintu : "Oh Doctor. We're looking for Zuzu Mlangeni. We were told that she's in here."

Doc : "Are you her parents?"

Fani : "Yes. Is she here? Is she okay?"

Sintu: "How is she? Can we see her?"

Doc : "Please calm down. Your daughter is fine. She lost a lot of blood and she was also in a very critical condition but we managed to sustain her. I'm still going to do some tests to make sure she's completely fine.

Right now she's unconscious so you'll have to wait until she wakes up before you see her. A nurse will tell you when it's time to see her."

Sintu : "Ohh my baby." (falling into Fani's arms)

Fani : (holds her) "everything will be ok. Let's pray."

(Fani and Sintu hold hands and they start praying but all that Fani could hear was a little voice whispering in his ear, 'You’re being warned. This is all your fault and this is just the beginning.' Then he hears a baby crying. When they opened their eyes, two police and a lieutenant were waiting for them to finish their conversation with God)

Lieutenant: "Mr and Mrs Mlangeni?"

Fani : (shocked) "Yes?"

Lieutenant: "We spoke to Doctor Lizzle and she told us about your daughter’s condition and that she's gotten better than how we left her here." (Sighs) "Basically we've come to tell you that the car that Zuzu crashed with is beyond repairs. The driver and three passengers died immediately after the accident."

Sintu : (sobbing) "So are you saying my daughter will be arrested for murder?"

Lieutenant: "No Mam. No one will be arrested for we’re not sure of who was in fault during the accident. Have a nice day Mr and Mrs Mlangeni, we hope your daughter recovers."

Sintu : (nods)

Fani : "Uhm Lieutenant!" (Follows them) "Could you possibly know the people that died."

Lieutenant: "No sir. But we'll let you know as soon we find out."

Fani : "Ok thanks."

Fani is suddenly having the guilty conscience about the death of the people after the little voice that spoke to him.

Sintu : (anxious) "You know baby, when we were praying I felt something touching me."

Fani : "Maybe it was lieutenant or one of the police that were with her."

Sintu : "Maybe. But it felt awkward."

Fani : (rubbing her shoulder) "It was probably nothing my love."

Sintu : "Or maybe it's just the nerves. The thing is, ever since I got back I've been having strange feelings. It's like a dark cloud is hanging over us, as if someone dead is always with us…"

Fani : (rise from his sit) "The nurse is here."

Nurse : "Mr Mlangeni, Mrs Mlangeni."

Fani & Sintu: "Good day sister."

Nurse : "I'm proud to let you know that your daughter has woken up and she'd like to see you both."

Fani : "Ohh thank you Sister."

They rush inside. But before they start talking to her, she asked them about Khwezi.

Sintu : "Oh. We didn't find time to tell her that we were coming here. When the hospital called, we just gunned out the house and rushed here."

Zuzu : "Was she ok when you left though."

Fani : "She was in her bedroom. Why?"

Zuzu : "No it's just that I had a disturbing dream about her, so I was just wondering if she is okay.

Sintu : "Disturbing how?"

Zuzu : "She was wondering in a dark place as if she's lost or something."

Fani : "It must be the injection they gave you." (Fani and Zuzu laugh)

Zuzu : "Yeah, maybe."

Fani : "Don't worry. Your sister is perfectly fine. Just focus on getting better."

Zuzu : (smiles a little) "ok, thanks."

Sintu : (deep in thoughts) "something's not right here" (whispering to Fani).

Fani : (message alert)

'I'd like you and your wife to quickly come to my place. It's urgent. Be here in 30 min.'

Sintu : "We couldn't even get you anything to eat."

Zuzu : "No don't worry Ma, at least I had some juice before you came in. But I'm still starving."

Sintu : "ok. Tomorrow we'll bring you home cooked meal hey."

Zuzu : "I'd really love that."

Fani : "Unfortunately we have to leave now my daughter. Duty calls."

Zuzu : "Ok I'll see you tomorrow then."

Sintu: (kiss her on the forehead) "Goodbye. I love you."

Fani : "Get well Zuzu."

Zuzu: "I will. Say hi to Khwezi for me."

Scene 9

Khwezi is on a bus to wonderland. As it is a long journey, she has decided to take a nap. A dream of a crying baby swimming in a blood pool disturbs her nap, forcing her to wake up, shocked and nervous. She takes out her phone and listens to music instead.

Scene 10

Fani and Sintu are at Bab’ Cilo, the visionary's house.

Fani : "Greetings Baba."

Baba: "Greetings. I tried calling your house but no one answered the phone."

Sintu : "Ohh sorry. We're coming from the hospital, Zuzu got in a car accident."

Baba : "Ohh. And where is the other girl?"

Fani : "She was in her room when we left home. Maybe that's why she didn't hear the phone."

Baba : "Ok, I see." (Clears throat) "I had a vision."

Fani : (looks at Sintu).

Baba : "There was a pool of blood and a baby in it. It was trying to reach out but it was as if something was pressing it deep into the pool. It wasn't crying, but it was screaming, shouting, asking questions like 'what's my name? What did I do?' And it kept asking and asking. And then at the edge of the pool I saw a woman crying and complaining, trying to stop a man who had already turned his back on her. Then I heard a voice saying 'get rid of it, I have a family… '.

Fani : "So why did you call us?"

Baba : (looks at Sintu) "can you excuse us."

Sintu : (leaves)

Baba : "I didn't want to say this in your wife's presence. But a man in the vision was you. I recognised your voice. What did you do Mlangeni?"

Fani : (sighs, and looks down) "I won't deny what you're saying Baba. I know what I did was uncalled for but I was only trying to save my marriage."

Baba : "Save your marriage? You've just put your family in great danger. Zuzu is in hospital and you're not even sure if Khwezi is at home. What were you thinking really?"

Fani : (shake head) "Wait! Are you saying Khwezi is also in trouble?"

Baba : "All I'm saying is that you need to fix this Mlangeni before you lose your whole family. That baby you killed needs answers. So it's up to you whether you wanna save or destroy your family."

Fani : "I hear you Baba. Can you help me?"

Baba : "Go speak to your wife, make sure you tell her everything then come back tomorrow with her. We'll try to fix this before it's too late."

Fani : "Ok." (Leaves).

Sintu heard the whole conversation between Bab’ Cilo and her husband when she was standing outside by the door. But when Fani came out, she pretended to be on the phone with a colleague.

Sintu : "So what did Baba say?"

Fani : (clicks tongue) "That old man is crazy. He was talking rubbish."

(They get into the car and drove off. Sintu stares at her husband suspiciously)

Scene 11

At the hospital. The doctor is back with Zuzu’s test results.

Doctor : "How is my patient doing?"

Zuzu : "I'm fine but I still have a slight headache."

Doctor: "Don't worry. It must be the medication kicking in."

Zuzu : "When am I being discharged?"

Doctor: "Soon, don't rush. We need to make sure that you've fully recovered before we let you go. We don't want you to suffer from any pains at home now do we?"

Zuzu : "Ja I get you. It's just that I miss home."

Doctor: "I know, I know. Don't worry you'll be home soon."

Zuzu : "What's in the envelope?"

Doctor: "Ooh I've got your results here with me. I have good and bad news. Which one would you like to hear first?"

Zuzu : "Uhm Doc. Before you proceed with the news...I know that I'm pregnant. So you can skip that part."

Doctor : "Ohh ja about that…"(sighs) "I hate to tell you this but, you're no longer pregnant Zuzu. You lost your baby during the accident."

Zuzu : (holding back the tears) "ohh". "And what's the good news?"

Doctor: "The good news is that you have no internal bleeding, no muscle or organ damage. The external wounds will heal faster if you take your meds right."

Zuzu : (Nods).

Doctor: "I'm sincerely sorry about your baby." (Walks out)

Scene 12

When the Mlangeni’s get home they're greeted by a blood stain at the door forming a phrase: BE WARNED!!

Sintu : (snaps) "This is it Fani. I swear if you don't tell me what's going on, you'll rue the day you were born."

Fani : (shocked. Mouth wide open. Turns to look at Sintu)

Sintu : "Start talking. What did you do?"

Fani : "Ok let's go in and I'll tell you everything." (Opens the door and enters the house)

Sintu : (follows).

Fani : "Please sit. Do you remember Zenzo?"

Sintu : (pissed) "Ja"

Fani : "She got pregnant and I forced her to terminate the pregnancy because I didn't want anything to come between us."

Sintu : "Oh and the vision that Baba was talking about?"

Fani : "Ja. So apparently that baby is now haunting me through my family. It wants to know its name and the reason why I denied it a chance to live. Bab’ Cilo said if I don't fix things with the baby, I'm still gonna endure a lot of pain of losing my family. And I suppose he's right."

Sintu : "Damn right he is. Now that explains all the dreams I've been having lately and the tension in this house."

Fani : "He also said something about Khwezi, but I can't recall what."

Sintu : (shouts) "Khwezi. Where's she." (Rising) "Khwezi!" (Runs up the stairs, straight to Khwezi’s room) "Khwezi!"

Fani : (follows)

Sintu : (sits on the bed, sobbing) "See?!" (holding up a letter) "Should this be a suicide letter, I swear on my mother's grave. I'll kill you with my bare hands Fani Mlangeni."

Fani : (whispers) "I'm sorry."

Sintu: (reads the letter)

At the hospital

After Zuzu received the news that her baby was gone, she realised it was the end of her world. She had no one to talk to, especially since she broke up with Sanny.

With the hospital sheets and equipments, she makes a hanging rope. She hung herself in her ward.

Sintu : (finish reading the letter)

Fani : (calls Khwezi. Call goes straight to voicemail. Keeps trying)

Sintu : (phone rings. She answers. Drops the phone on the floor, cries louder and louder)

Fani : (holds her) "I'm really sorry." (Cries) "I never thought it'd turn out like this. Please forgive me. Please forgive me."
