The Primate

Episode 2

At the arrival of the morning, Alexia rushes to prepare for work. She plans to go early than usual and meet with their secretary. Alexia want to see their schedule and act on matters concerning the hotel. She had already emailed the sectary and they are meeting at the lounge in the hotel.

On her way, she grabs breakfast which is only pastries and coffee.

“Good morning, Tasha” Alexia grins as she hugs her friend.

“Hey you!” Tasha responds with the same excitement. It is evident on her face that she misses her friend even with the tired eyes.

“You look tired. You okay?” Alexia asked concerned about her friend.

“Not really! I had only three hours to sleep and jetlag also”

“Why. Is the bed not to your liking? I could change that. Is your room not serene?” Alexia puzzles.

“No. I mean it is not all that. There was an impromptu video conference meeting, few minutes after we arrived. The meeting took about two hours then immediately after the meeting, I was to submit a report to them. After that, I was instructed to finalize all documents relating to Sambaed Construction Company. That got me awake for three hours until I slept off while working. Besides the meeting is by 10 am, get the conference room ready.” Tasha narrates.

“Woah and here I thought that you are enjoying the luxury life.” Alexia chuckles while Tasha scoffs at her words.

“Enough chatting, let’s get straight to business so that I can at least have another 3 hours of sleeping. My head is aching and pounding.” Tasha urges and Alexia complies.

After the meeting with Tasha, Alexia made adequate preparations for the meetings the triplets will have for today. After that she emailed Tasha that everything is put in order and that the hotel has done their part. She also made arrangement for the Shade as per their breakfast and any services they will need.

The men came into the board meeting. They all sat down awaiting for the meeting to commence, waiting for the triplets to come in. Alexia sat next to Tasha. She was having small conversation with her. Tasha was entertaining her about funny moments that went down in the triplets’ office and she was laughing to it. Alexia laughs so hard at Tasha’s word

“I can’t believe the triplets were that cruel to you? Ah! Talk about vicious.” Alexia voices out as she laughs. She looks at Tasha expecting her to laugh but she is silent and looking scared. She checks her surrounding and finds out that indeed, everyone is silent and looking at behind her. She looks behind she was met by three figures. Her eyes widen, she was scared at the way they were looking at her. It made her feel tingles.

“Brother, look who we have here” the first one said, looking at her weirdly. The way they stare at me makes me shiver unconsciously.

“Are you okay? Hope we didn’t scare you. Are we being cruel?” the second mocks and teases me. They definitely heard what I said. I slapped myself inwardly. How could I be so stupid! I hope I am not being fired.

“Miss, I believe this is working hours and such chitchat can be saved for later. I suggest you refrain from spreading rumors and baseless thought or we would be force to take necessary measures.” The third one warns. They walk to their position and seat. The meeting commenced. I hope I am not getting fired. I can’t stay at home and watch the lovey-dovey moment of Allison and her perfect boyfriend.

“Miss…Miss?” I was pulled out of my thought when Tasha tapped me a few times. To my shock, it seems the boss were calling me. Lord, please I don’t want to be fired.

“Yes sir?”

“Tell me, what Mr. Luke just proposed” I was shocked when he said that. How was I supposed to know? Heck, I didn’t know when Luke talked.

“I am afraid I fail to catch what Mr. Luke said” I truthfully revealed.

“Next time, pay attention! If I hadn’t know better, I would have deemed you to be incompetent.” Mr. Shade says as she sips coffee. I literally glared at him for that statement. I know my worth and I am not incompetent. This company can testify to my worth. If only, the EM is stable then I would not have met them. My life will be perfect.

“Yes sir!” I answered.

“Mr. Luke, do well to repeat your proposal as she was not listening”

Throughout the meeting, Mr. Shade was on my neck. Making sure I was fully paying attention in the meeting

Alexia’s Pov.

“How could you? I applaud your confidence for standing up to them. People would cower away than talk to them. You so fit with them, you were not scared or at least you didn’t show that” Tasha mocks and praises me. The meeting ended. Time passed by, I am Tasha’s hotel room conversing with her.

“Stop it. You know very well that if I had sense their arrival, I would certainly I had refrain them” I defend myself.

“Besides, everyone is saying you are so brave.” I laugh at the way she visions the conversation.

“They are so annoying! How do you even relate with them. If it is me, I would have pulled my hair out and probably give my resignation letter.” I complain. They are frustrating, they disturb me even after the meeting, they requested a one on one conversation for the evaluation of the report I sent to them. Now, I have to meet them in their suite. Although they have not stipulate a date, I still dread the time I would be alone with them. Only God know what I will do.

“What are you thinking so hard about?” Tasha taps me.

“Sorry! I still have not come to make peace with the fact that they requested my presence” I told her.

“I also wonder why. The shades hate meeting people and have minimal interaction with the. Apart from business and vital things, rarely meet people or even do one on one conversation. I am so sure that if it is not necessary, they would have not requested your presence. I was shocked to see they were talking to you in the meeting” I roll my eyes at the last statement.

“Perhaps, they want to frustrate me and disturb the hell out of me.” I correct her last statement.

“But why?” Tasha reasons. I frown, if it is all true, but why is it so?

“True! You say that they keep human interaction simple then it is probably about business. I hope I made no mistakes” I am worried. They have no reason to disturb me except if I have done a mistake.

“True! It could be that. The probability of it being that is 50” Tasha confirms my statement.

“Enough of that. I want to chill and relax with my best friend or I am not allowed to do that?” I dismiss the issues. I don’t want to be concern with the Shades now. Let me enjoy and relax after a hectic day.

“Yes you are” she laughs and I join. I went to take wine from the kitchen as well as wine glasses.

“Now, tell me about your relationship with Nick” I get to the hot stuff. Tasha boyfriend is Nick.

“All is good” Tasha briefly state. I glared that her, urging her to start telling the details. She laughs at my reaction.
