Jackson POV 4

She ran out of the classroom in such a hurry, leaving everything behind that I couldn't help but be concerned. Especially since I didn't see her at all the rest of the day. Which is why when I saw her at the cafe, I felt so relieved. Wolfe had asked me to come in and cover a shift for one of his coworkers and I was talking to one of the customers when I felt like someone was watching me. I looked around and smiled as my eyes landed on Lilah. She blushed and looked back at Lilly when I caught her staring. My customer left shortly after that and I was praying she came over and let me apologize. But she didn't. I know I heard my name when she was talking to Lilly and I could've sworn it wasn't said in a bad way. Please Lilah. Just come over and let me explain. Of course she didn't. I stood there for 20 minutes helping customers and hoping she would come over and she never did. Of course, I caught her looking at me a few more times so I finally gave up and went over to her. And of course as soon as I was about to explain everything to her, Wolfe needed me back at work. I smiled at her from the counter and then growled slightly. Wolfe glanced around and then whispered, "He's here." I glared at Wolfe. "Yeah, I know he is. I already saw him. Dude. Didn't you see I was making progress with Lilah? Why would you call me back here?" He grinned. "Cause I figured you would rather have that conversation in private and away from prying eyes in case she's figured out the connection to A." I rolled my eyes and got back to work. The cafe closed about an hour later so it wasn't too long before I could head over to see Lilah. Wolfe and I had just clocked out and were locking the doors when I saw her standing outside waiting. Wolfe poked his head out and said something to her and she just shook her head. He looked at me and shrugged. I sighed and opened the door saying, "Kitten, come inside. You'll get sick." She looked she was about to protest, but she looked at me and finally nodded. Wolfe hollered from the back, "I'm going to head out! I'll see you tomorrow. Lock up before you leave." Lilah followed me in and shut the door behind her. I smiled at her and said, "What were you doing out there?" She shrugged and looked away. "Were you waiting for me to get off?" She blushed. "You said we would finish our conversation later." I tucked her hair behind her ear (yet again) and said, "You didn't have to wait outside for me. I would've come to you. We could have talked tomorrow as well." "I know. I wanted to see you though." I hesitated before letting out a stream of curses in Russian. "Lilah," She shrugged. "It was dumb. Just forget it." "No, Lilah, it wasn't dumb. It's just that... I'm so sorry, Lilah. I kissed you without your consent and every time I see you or you say something like that, I want to do it again. Not without your consent of course. Gods, that came out so wrong." I scrubbed at my face. "Lilah, I really like you. It was dumb of me to think you would be okay with me kissing you. You are still healing. The person you loved died. Of course you wouldn't want to move on with someone like me, who you just met literally days ago. It was inconsiderate of me and I apologize." She reached out and took my hand before saying, "Thank you, Jackson." She stood up on her tiptoes and kissed the corner of my mouth before turning to walk away. I stood there in shock before breaking out in a grin.
