Master

No one knew how much time had passed when several figures suddenly descended upon the hidden stronghold deep within the mountains. A closer look revealed that every one of them was a woman. “Sister Wanqiu, this is the hideout of those people claiming to be remnants of the Thousand Poison Sect?” asked a young woman with a single ponytail as she surveyed the area. She wore a fitted green combat outfit that outlined the curves of a body just on the verge of full bloom. Though youthful, she was undeniably alluring. The woman she addressed stood beside her in white. A veil of thin silk covered the lower half of her face, while a snow-white layered dress flowed around her slender frame, cinched at the waist with a pale golden sash. Even the loose gown could not conceal her figure. Full hips and a proud chest combined with elegant proportions to create a beauty both dazzling and dangerous. Her skin was pale as jade. In contrast to her seductive body, her eyes and features were cool and distant—like a snow lotus blooming atop a mountain peak. Yet she did not seem wholly unreachable. That subtle contradiction—close, yet untouchable—was a poison few men could resist. Lin Wanqiu studied the ruined encampment before answering casually. “If Hongmei’s intelligence was accurate, then the people using our name were hiding here.” She turned slightly. “Qingzhu. Take some people and inspect the surroundings. Find out what happened.” The woman called Qingzhu nodded and was just about to gather others when one of their subordinates rushed out from inside the stronghold. “Sister Wanqiu! Everyone here is dead!” “What?” A flicker of surprise crossed Lin Wanqiu’s eyes. Not long after, they arrived near the insect pit. Even women accustomed to bloodshed felt their stomachs twist at the gruesome sight. Qingzhu clenched her fists. “Whoever did this was vicious... though these scum deserved to die.” She frowned in disgust. “Even villains should have limits.” Lin Wanqiu narrowed her eyes. “Something is strange.” “What is it?” Qingzhu asked. “Judging from the destruction around us, it seems multiple people were involved.” She glanced at the corpses. “But judging from the wounds, they all died by the same hand. That contradiction is troubling.” Her gaze sharpened. “The only question is whether whoever destroyed them was targeting them... or the Thousand Poison Sect.” “If it is the latter, then we may have gained a dangerous enemy hiding in the shadows.” As she spoke, Lin Wanqiu suddenly fell silent. Her eyes locked onto a man lying face-down some distance from the pit. “He’s still breathing?” Qingzhu exclaimed. “He crawled out of that pit?” another woman muttered in disbelief. “What terrifying willpower... Though with poison this deep and this mixed, death is only a matter of time.” Lin Wanqiu stared at the unconscious man for a long moment before speaking. “Take this man back with us. He may know what happened here.” “Urgh... ah...” “Get away... get away!” Mu Yunfeng’s brows were tightly drawn together. His whole body burned with pain as he struggled instinctively in his sleep. A cold voice sounded beside his ear. “If you move again, I’ll cut off all four of your limbs.” His consciousness immediately snapped into focus. He opened his eyes slowly. Beside the bed sat a veiled woman in white. “Uh... thank you for saving me, miss. May I ask—” “Shut your mouth.” Lin Wanqiu cut him off without hesitation. Holding silver needles, she continued inserting them into various points across his body. The sudden sharpness of her tone stunned Mu Yunfeng into silence. He could only lie there and let her work. “To be honest,” she said coolly, “you are the first person I’ve ever seen walk out alive from the Ten Thousand Insect Gu.” “You should know those were no ordinary venomous creatures. Every single insect in that pit survived after slaughtering a hundred of its own kind. Each one was an exceptionally poisonous gu insect.” A bad feeling rose in Mu Yunfeng’s chest. “What exactly does that mean?” Lin Wanqiu turned to look at him. “It means that even though you crawled out alive, the toxins inside your body are still enough to kill you.” “Then... what are you doing now?” Seeing how calm he remained, she seemed mildly surprised. A trace of amusement curved her lips beneath the veil. “I am suppressing the poison.” She paused. “But I cannot cure it.” “You now have two choices.” She placed another needle into his shoulder with precise force. “First, once I finish suppressing the toxins, you may leave. You will likely have three months left to live.” “Second, become mine. Test poisons for me.” She leaned closer slightly. “If you are useful enough, you may still have a chance to survive.” Then she said nothing more and continued her treatment. Mu Yunfeng lay silently, but his thoughts were elsewhere. The Yi God Nuo Mask. Now he finally understood why that mysterious girl had warned him not to let it consume him. That mask was far too sinister. With his current strength, he could never control it. In fact, if his transmigrator’s soul had not been tougher than an ordinary person’s, he might have been devoured the instant he wore it. But impossible now did not mean impossible forever. If he had never seen hope, perhaps he would truly accept three more months of life and be done with it. But now— No matter how evil that mask was, it was the only path to power he could see. And once a man sees hope, surrender becomes difficult. He looked at Lin Wanqiu. “You said testing poisons for you could let me live. Why?” “Have you heard the phrase ‘fight poison with poison’?” she asked calmly. “You are poisoned too deeply. Conventional methods can no longer cleanse your body completely.” “To remove it, I must take an unconventional route.” She withdrew one needle and inserted another. “I happen to need a poison tester. And someone who survived the Ten Thousand Insect Gu clearly has extraordinary potential.” Mu Yunfeng exhaled slowly. “Fine. I’ll do it. I’ll test poisons for you.” Beneath the veil, a strange smile tugged at Lin Wanqiu’s lips. But Mu Yunfeng failed to notice. Then a thought struck him. “Wait. Where is this place? And who are you?” “This is the Thousand Poison Sect.” Her voice was even. “I am its Sect Master.” ... ? ! The Thousand Poison Sect?! Mu Yunfeng’s expression froze instantly. Even as a refugee, he had heard of them. They were the greatest demonic sect in all Snowshade Kingdom. Its leader was known across the martial world as the Thousand-Calamity Poison Princess—cold, ruthless, and terrifyingly skilled in poison arts. So he had escaped the wolves... only to enter a tiger’s den? His heart trembled. Forcing out a smile uglier than crying, he said weakly, “About that... is it too late to change my mind?” Lin Wanqiu calmly inserted a needle directly above his heart and pressed it in little by little. Her tone remained strangely gentle. “What... do... you think?” “I understand.” Mu Yunfeng surrendered instantly. “Please command me as you wish, Sect Master.” “My name is Lin Wanqiu.” Her eyes cooled. “You are not one of my disciples.” “You are my servant.” “From now on, you will call me Master. Understood?” Feeling the needle sink deeper, Mu Yunfeng nearly burst into tears. “Whatever you say...” “Hm?” He swallowed hard. “M-Master.” “Mm.”
