HAZEL Usually, it takes three hours, by bus, to get to the border towns. But Asher takes us in his rover and because he drives like a maniac, we get there in two hours. We leave campus at the c***k of dawn. Asher goes up with coffee and warm donuts. “For the road,” he hands me a coffee and a paper bag. “Aren’t I the world’s greatest boyfriend?” “Yes you are.” I take a sip of coffee and sigh. “That’s good.
