“He’s definitely lost a lot of blood,” Asher examines the wound at close range. “His insides are hanging out. That’s why he’s not healing.”
“Nick,” I try again. “What happened?”
“I doubt he’ll be able to say much to you right now.”
He’s right. Nick is barely breathing. He’s staring at us but I doubt he knows we’re here.
“How far is the E.R from here?” I stare at my watch. “You think we can get him there in a few minutes without worsening his condition?”
“The medics said they were on their way,” no sooner does Asher say that before we hear the blare of the medical van.
