HAZEL “Asher? Dude! What are you doing here?!” Elara isn’t different from how I pictured her in my head. The way she carries herself is similar to a cheerleader. At the same time, she doesn’t have the vapid sense of self-importance that Nancy and the others have. She isn’t hostile when her eyes flicker to mine. “I see you’ve brought a friend.” She steps forward, holding out a hand to me. “Hi. Nice to meet you. I’m Elara.” “I’m Hazel,” I shake her hand, trying not to be intimidated by the smiling witch. “Sorry for barging in on you like this.” “She’s right, El. We wouldn’t have come if it wasn’t an emergency.” Asher wraps an arm around my shoulders, holding me firmly to his side. “Do you want to tell her, Bell? Or would you like me to do you the honors?” I stiffen in his clutches.
